Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be welcomed by your professional driver-guide and receive a short briefing about your safari. Thereafter, depart Rwanda's vibrant capital and begin a scenic drive towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and picturesque rural landscapes that characterize the Great Lakes region.
After completing border formalities between Rwanda and Uganda, continue through beautiful countryside toward Bwindi, one of Africa's most biologically diverse forests and home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon or early evening, depending on your pickup time and assigned park sector. Check in, relax, and enjoy dinner while preparing for the unforgettable gorilla trekking experience awaiting you the following day.

After an early breakfast, you'll proceed to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi. The trek takes you deep into the dense rainforest in search of one of the habituated mountain gorilla families. Trekking duration varies depending on the location of the gorillas and terrain conditions, typically ranging from 2 to 8 hours, including hiking through thick forest, slopes, and narrow trails. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend a magical one hour observing them in their natural habitat.
After the trek, return for lunch and preparation for your cross-border journey to Rwanda. Later, drive to Volcanoes National Park. The transfer from Bwindi to Volcanoes National Park takes about 4 hours. Arrive in the Musanze region in the late afternoon or early evening, check in at your lodge, and unwind after an unforgettable day of gorilla trekking and cross-border travel.

After an early breakfast, proceed to the Park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing by the park rangers before setting off for an exciting golden monkey trekking experience. These rare and playful primates are endemic to the Virunga volcanic forests and are known for their energetic movements, often jumping between bamboo trees in large groups, making for an engaging and photogenic encounter.
The trek usually takes between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the location of the troop, with an additional hour allowed for observation once the monkeys are found. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch, check out, and begin your journey back to Kigali. The drive from Volcanoes National Park to Kigali takes about 2.5 to 3 hours.
On arrival in Kigali, you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport for your departure, marking the end of your unforgettable Uganda and Rwanda primate safari experience.
