Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve

Depart Nairobi in a private 4x4 safari vehicle, heading north through the scenic agricultural landscapes of Karatina and Nyeri. Stop at the Equator Marker in Nanyuki for photos and a quick stretch. Arrive at the reserve through Archer’s Post Gate and proceed to your lodge for a hot lunch. In the afternoon, head into the bush for a game drive in search of the “Samburu Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Samburu National Reserve

Set out early to catch predators—such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs—returning from a night hunt along the lush banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Return to the camp for a hearty breakfast, then embark on another extended game drive through the rugged, semi-desert terrain. Arrange a cultural visit to a nearby Samburu village, at an extra cost of $40 USD per person, to learn about the pastoralist community’s traditional way of life. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Samburu National Reserve - Nanyuki

Have breakfast in the morning and check out of the camp. You’ll then drive to Nanyuki and enter the conservancy through the gates. Your first game drive begins as you head toward the center of the park. Keep an eye out for elephants, giraffes, and rhinos as you make your way to the camp.

Arrive at Sweetwaters Serena Camp for check in and a hot lunch. The camp centers around a busy, floodlit waterhole, allowing you to watch wildlife drink right from your tent deck. Later, you’ll visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary to see rescued chimpanzees, and stop by the Morani Information Centre to meet Baraka, the blind black rhino. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast and check out of Sweetwaters Serena Camp. You’ll then begin your morning game drive as you depart Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Later, you will arrive at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, set on the hills overlooking the lake. Check in, settle into your room, and enjoy a delicious lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Look out for the endangered black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, and the famous tree-climbing lions. Return to the lodge for golden-hour views, followed by dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
