Fly from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park

Your safari adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Zanzibar, followed by a transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your scheduled flight to Nyerere National Park. After landing at Mtemere Airstrip, you will meet your safari guide and head straight into the park for an exciting full-day game drive.

Explore the park’s diverse landscapes while searching for a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and many other species. A packed hot lunch will be served at a scenic location within the park before you continue your wildlife viewing experience throughout the afternoon. As the day comes to an end, you will drive to Selous Safari Lodge, where a delicious dinner and a relaxing overnight stay await.

Early Walking Safari, Village Visit Safari and Sunset Boat Safari

After breakfast, begin the day with a guided nature walk through the surrounding wilderness. Accompanied by a professional guide, you'll have the opportunity to observe the area's unique plants, wildlife tracks, and smaller species that are often missed during game drives.

Later in the day, visit a nearby Maasai community and gain insight into their traditional way of life. Learn about their customs, culture, and history while enjoying cultural performances and meaningful interactions with local residents.

In the late afternoon 4pm head to the Rufiji River for a scenic boat safari. As you cruise along the river, watch for hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and other wildlife gathering along the banks, all while enjoying the beautiful sunset views.

After this memorable experience, return to Selous Safari Lodge for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Morning Game Drive And Fly Out To Zanzibar

After an early breakfast at around 7:00 a.m., depart for a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park. Explore the park’s vast wilderness and diverse ecosystems while searching for an abundance of wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, lions, giraffes, zebras, impalas, and the renowned African wild dogs, for which the park is especially famous.

During the excursion, your guide will take you to the park’s natural hot springs, where you can relax and enjoy a refreshing swim in the warm mineral waters. Around midday, stop at a scenic and safe location to enjoy a picnic lunch while admiring the surrounding landscapes and wildlife.

After lunch, continue with your game drive, making the most of your final wildlife-viewing opportunities. At approximately 3:00 p.m., begin the transfer to Mtemere Airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Zanzibar, bringing your memorable Nyerere safari adventure to a close.
