Nairobi – Drive to Masai Mara & Afternoon Game Drive

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Nairobi and a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley, with a stop at a viewpoint for photos. You continue toward the Masai Mara, arriving in time for lunch at your camp or lodge. After a short rest, you head out for your first afternoon game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This is your introduction to the migration ecosystem, where vast herds of wildebeest and zebra stretch across the plains, often shadowed by lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. You return to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, you set out with packed lunch for a full-day exploration of the Mara. Today is dedicated to following the Great Migration herds, tracking their movement across the plains and toward the Mara River. If conditions are right, you may witness the dramatic wildebeest river crossings, where thousands of animals gather at the banks before plunging into crocodile-filled waters in a tense struggle for survival. Your guide follows predator activity closely, increasing your chances of seeing lions, cheetahs, and hyenas hunting around the migrating herds. Lunch is enjoyed in the bush, and the adventure continues into the afternoon before returning to camp for dinner and relaxation.

Enjoy an early breakfast followed by a short morning game drive in the Mara for any last migration sightings. Afterward, depart for Lake Nakuru, driving through the scenic Rift Valley landscapes. You arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in the afternoon and proceed for a game drive. The park offers a different experience, featuring rhinos, buffalo, waterbucks, Rothschild giraffes, and abundant birdlife along the lake shores. You check in at your lodge later in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
