Savannah Gateway, Wildlife Cruise & Night Game Drive

Your private 4x4 safari vehicle picks you up from your hotel in Kigali. Head east toward the Tanzanian border through winding valleys and local banana plantations.

Arrive at the park headquarters for registration and briefing. Complete park entry formalities and begin an introductory game drive through the southern woodland circuits.

Check into your safari lodge inside the park. Enjoy a relaxing lunch overlooking the vast lake networks.

Board a motorized boat for a 2-hour aquatic safari on Rwanda’s second-largest lake. Cruise past large schools of wallowing hippos, massive Nile crocodiles, and nesting water birds like the African fish eagle.

As dusk falls, head out with an onboard park spotlight to track nocturnal predators. Look out for leopards, hyenas, jackals, bushbabies, and nightjars.

Return to the lodge for a hot multi-course dinner and relax around the evening campfire.

The Northern Plains Transverse & Big Five Search

Enjoy an early breakfast or pack a breakfast box. Set out at first light when predators are most active.

Embark on a game drive traversing the park from south to north. The landscape shifts from dense woodlands to open savannah plains. Track the Big Five, lions, black rhinos, leopards, elephants, and Cape buffaloes, alongside herds of giraffes, zebras, topis, and elands.

Pause at a designated high-vantage picnic spot overlooking the plains for a packed lunch surrounded by the wilderness.

Conclude your game drive and exit through the Nyungwe (Northern) Gate. Begin the return journey to the capital city.

Arrive back in Kigali. Your guide drops you off at your preferred hotel or directly at Kigali International Airport (KGL) for your departing flight.
