Formed millions of years ago when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed, the Ngorongoro Crater is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and supports one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. As you descend 600 meters to the crater floor, you will enter a wildlife-rich environment teeming with wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, buffaloes, and an impressive variety of birdlife, with more than 500 species recorded in the area.
