Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel. Drive north through Kenya’s central highlands, passing coffee and tea plantations, and cross the Equator at Nanyuki. Continue through scenic semi-arid landscapes before arriving at Samburu National Reserve in time for lunch and check-in at Samburu Intrepids Luxury Tented Camp. After a short rest, head out for your first afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Ng’iro River, the lifeline of the reserve. This area attracts elephants, crocodiles, lions, giraffes, and abundant birdlife. The dramatic scenery of rocky hills, doum palms, and open plains sets the tone for your safari. Return to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart for a full day of game viewing in Samburu National Reserve. Explore different sections of the park in search of the famous Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk. You may also encounter elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, and various antelope species. The Ewaso Ng’iro River remains a key wildlife magnet, especially during the heat of the day when animals gather to drink and cool off. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to camp depending on your schedule. In the afternoon, you may opt for a cultural visit to a traditional Samburu village (at extra cost), where you will learn about their customs, dress, dances, and pastoral lifestyle. After breakfast, enjoy a final short game drive or relax at the camp while taking in the serene river views. Check out and begin your drive back to Nairobi through the scenic central highlands. Enjoy views of Mount Kenya region, local farmlands, and roadside towns along the way. Stop for lunch en route (own cost) before arriving in Nairobi in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Samburu safari experience filled with rare wildlife sightings, stunning landscapes, and authentic cultural encounters.
