Transfer by road to Tarangire National Park

Your safari begins immediately and without ceremony: your driver-guide collects you from your Arusha hotel, and within two hours you are pulling through the gates of Tarangire National Park for your first game drive. There is no better way to begin a Tanzania safari than with Tarangire that consistently surprises visitors who expect it to be merely a warm-up act before the Serengeti.
Tarangire is one of the northern circuit's true hidden gems. Known for its massive baobab trees, sweeping landscapes and prolific wildlife, it offers a different texture and character from the open plains ahead a more intimate, wooded landscape that reveals its treasures gradually. You will spend the afternoon exploring on game drives, searching for the large elephant herds that gather along the Tarangire River, prides of lion resting in the shade of acacia trees, graceful giraffe moving between the canopy, and the rich variety of birdlife that makes this one of Tanzania's finest birding destinations.

Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you set off for the Serengeti – a journey of around five to six hours, including stops, that takes you north through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and across the short-grass plains towards Naabi Hill and the eastern boundary of one of Africa's most famous national parks. Your guide will pause briefly at the Ngorongoro crater rim, giving you a first breathtaking glimpse into the caldera before you continue west.
You will never truly forget the time you spend in the Serengeti. it is the sighting of a leopard and her cub as they show their skills across the plains and valleys. Or that unforgettable moment when an elephant family feeds alongside the vehicle, so close you could almost reach out and touch them. The first time a lion roars in the darkness. Then there are the herds of buffalo, zebra or wildebeest so vast that they move as one across the horizon, like a river. All of these experiences are possible in the Serengeti one of the most beautiful parks in Africa.

Full adventure in Serengeti

A full day to explore the extraordinary heart of the Serengeti. Here in the central zone, wildlife populations are at their densest, and the classic savannah grasslands and acacia trees are the signature landscapes of the East African safari. This is the area of the park that is especially rewarding for seeing all three big cats – lion, leopard and cheetah – often on the same day.
Your guide will lead the day based on fresh sightings and your own interests, moving between the open plains, the granite kopjes that rise unexpectedly from the grass, and the riverine woodland along the Seronera River. Elephants, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and wildebeest move through the landscape throughout the day, providing a constant backdrop of activity. Lunch is enjoyed out in the bush at a scenic stopping point.
In the late afternoon, you will leave the Serengeti and drive towards Ngorongoro, arriving at your lodge on the highland rim in time for dinner and a final night before the crater tomorrow.

Guided Game drive and Transfer to Arusha

You have saved the best for last. An early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater is one of the finest experiences East Africa has to offer, and your guide will have you at the descent road at first light to make the most of the day. The crater the world's largest unbroken, unflooded volcanic caldera, with walls 600 metres high enclosing a floor of 246 square kilometres is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ngorongoro Crater has everything like plentiful wildlife, rare natural beauty and the chance to experience. This is one of the most reliable places in Africa to see the endangered black rhino, alongside large prides of lion, spotted hyena clans, elephant bulls with impressively long tusks, and the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra that graze the crater floor. On Lake Magadi, the central soda lake, flamingos gather in shimmering, shifting flocks.
After a full day on the crater floor, you will ascend back to the rim and make the journey back to Arusha.
