Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive with a packed lunch included. The reserve is famous for its black-maned lions, as well as its rich variety of resident wildlife, and it is among the few destinations where visitors can spot the Big Five during a morning game drive. Some cheetahs are so accustomed to vehicles that they seek shade beneath them during the heat of the day, while others climb onto the roof to gain a better view of potential prey. For bird lovers, nearly 500 species have been documented, including 16 species of eagles, numerous hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 species of bustards (including the kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird in the world), and 9 species of sunbirds.

Lake Naivasha
Lake Naivasha
Take an early morning drive to Lake Naivasha, the highest and one of the most scenic lakes in the Rift Valley. Located at 1,910 m (6,200 ft), the lake contains fresh water and is surrounded by thick clusters of papyrus plants (which were used by ancient Egyptians to produce paper). Kingfishers rest on the papyrus, while herons hide among the vegetation as they search for food.
Naivasha is also a popular destination for birdwatching, with over 400 species recorded. It is a favourite weekend getaway for Nairobi residents, who visit to enjoy activities such as sailing, water skiing, and fishing. There are no crocodiles in the lake because the water is too cold for them at this high altitude, but it is home to several hippos. Along the lakeshore, vineyards grow grapes that support the country’s developing wine industry.
