Day 1

Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be met by your safari guide for a short briefing before beginning the scenic drive to Uganda. Depending on time availability, you may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial or local craft markets before departing. The journey takes you through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills and across the Katuna or Cyanika border into Uganda. Continue through the picturesque countryside, passing terraced farms, local villages, and stunning mountain landscapes. Arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the evening and check in at your lodge. Relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the unforgettable gorilla trekking experience awaiting you the following day.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers about gorilla trekking guidelines. Enter the dense rainforest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek may take between two and six hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and refreshments. Later, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park through the scenic Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Rise early for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, lions, hyenas, and numerous bird species. The open savannah and beautiful scenery offer excellent photography opportunities. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation before lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a memorable boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward. The channel hosts one of Africa’s highest concentrations of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and numerous water birds, providing exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities.

After an early breakfast, proceed to Kalinzu Forest for chimpanzee tracking. The gorge, often called the “Valley of Apes,” is home to habituated chimpanzees and other primates. Accompanied by experienced guides, walk through the forest while searching for these fascinating primates and observing the rich biodiversity of the area. After the tracking experience enjoy the scenic landscapes, rolling hills, and rural communities along the journey. Arrive in Kigali in the evening and transfer to the airport or your hotel, marking the end of your memorable Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari.
