The Magic of Lake Naivasha

The Magic of Lake Naivasha

Your Great Rift Valley adventure begins with a scenic drive descending the spectacular escarpment toward Lake Naivasha, a stunning freshwater gem fringed by yellow-barked acacias. Arriving at your resort by early afternoon, you will check in and enjoy a fresh, delicious lunch before setting out to explore this vibrant aquatic ecosystem.
The afternoon's highlight is a tranquil boat safari across the lake's calm waters, bringing you thrillingly close to large, wallowing pods of hippos and an array of magnificent water birds, from African fish eagles to elegant pelicans. Stepping ashore at Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, you will experience a unique walking safari, tracking gentle giraffes, zebras, and waterbucks on foot without the confinement of a vehicle. Transfer to Lake Nakuru

Setting off in the crisp morning air, you will journey from the shores of Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park for a full day of world-class wildlife viewing. As you descend into this dramatic Rift Valley basin, you are greeted by an exceptional contrast of shimmering alkaline waters, golden savannah plains, and dense fever-tree forests.
Your day is spent exploring Kenya’s premier, heavily protected rhino sanctuary, where you can easily spot prehistoric white rhinos grazing with their calves in the open woodlands alongside the more reclusive black rhino. Scan the lime-green branches of yellow-barked acacias for camouflaged leopards, tree-climbing lions, and playful colobus monkeys, or watch herds of Cape buffalo, endangered Rothschild's giraffes, and Defassa waterbucks roam the plains.
Along the shoreline, the true scale of Nakuru's avian life unfolds with millions of vibrant pink flamingos and great white pelicans framing the shallow water.

Day 3

Explore more in Lake Nakuru

Explore more in Lake Nakuru

A second full day in this remarkable park allows you to break away from the main tourist loops and venture into the rugged, less-frequented southern reaches. Your morning starts with an early drive tracking predators across the Naishi Plains, an open terrain favoured by lions and elusive cheetahs using the early morning light to scan for prey.
Heading deeper south, the terrain transitions into thick riverine bush and rocky escarpments, leading you to the hidden gem of Makalia Falls. This seasonal waterfall drops 10 meters off a dramatic cliff into a freshwater pool, providing a vital drinking spot for wildlife and a beautifully shaded setting for a quiet mid-day picnic lunch.
The Romance of the Rift: Cap off your afternoon with a steep drive up to the legendary Out of Africa Lookout. True to its cinematic namesake, this high, rocky vantage point offers the most spectacular, uninterrupted panorama of the deep blue alkaline lake stretching toward the horizon.
