Day 1

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Your journey begins in Arusha, where the morning air still carries a hint of coolness before the sun takes hold. After breakfast, you'll head south-west for around two and a half hours, watching the landscape shift from town to bush as Tarangire National Park comes into view. This is elephant country, where herds move unhurried beneath the silhouettes of ancient baobab trees that have stood watch over these plains for centuries. As the afternoon light softens, you'll set out on your first game drive, scanning the riverbanks for lion and leopard, and if timing is on your side, witnessing plains game gathered along the Tarangire River. As dusk settles, you'll check into your lodge just outside the park, where dinner awaits.

Karatu to Serengeti National Park

Rise early and set off westward, tracing a route across the Ngorongoro highlands, where the views stretch out over crater rims and cloud-brushed hills. After five to six hours on the road, the landscape opens dramatically as you arrive in the Serengeti, a place whose name alone conjures images of endless plains and roaming herds. There's time for lunch before your first taste of this legendary ecosystem on an afternoon game drive, where lion prides doze in the grass, cheetah survey the horizon from termite mounds, and giraffe move with quiet elegance across the plains. Depending on the season, you may find yourself amid the herds of the Great Migration itself. As the sun dips low, you'll settle into your lodge for the night.

Full-Day Serengeti Game Drive

Today belongs entirely to the Serengeti. With a picnic lunch packed and the whole day ahead, you'll explore the park's central and northern plains, chasing the golden light of early morning and late afternoon, the hours when the bush truly comes alive. This is when lion prides stir from their rest, leopards slip through riverine trees, and, in season, the wildebeest and zebra herds of the Great Migration stretch to the horizon in every direction. There's no rush today, no fixed agenda beyond following the wildlife wherever it leads. As the light fades, you'll return to your lodge for dinner and a well-earned rest under a sky thick with stars.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim

One last Serengeti sunrise, one last morning drive to soak in the plains before you say goodbye. Then it's time to turn toward Ngorongoro, a journey of around three to four hours that carries you up into cooler, greener highland country. Along the way, the crater's rim comes into view, a vast bowl carved into the earth, cradling one of the densest concentrations of wildlife on the continent. If you wish, you can pause for a visit to a Maasai village, stepping briefly into a culture that has coexisted with this land for generations. By late afternoon you'll reach your lodge on the crater rim itself, with sweeping views over the caldera as the light fades.

Ngorongoro Crater Tour to Arusha

Before the sun has fully risen, you'll begin the descent into the Ngorongoro Crater floor, entering what many call Africa's Garden of Eden. Within this natural amphitheater, wildlife exists in numbers found almost nowhere else on earth: lion, elephant, buffalo, and the rare black rhino all share this contained world, giving you one of the best chances anywhere in Tanzania to encounter the Big Five in a single morning. You'll pause for a picnic lunch beside the Ngoitokitok hippo pool, watching these giants wallow in the water, before climbing back up to the crater rim. From there, the journey turns toward Arusha, arriving in the early evening as your safari draws to a close.
