Later, proceed for your first afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara, exploring its open savannahs and searching for lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes and other wildlife. After breakfast, depart with a picnic lunch and packed lunch for a full-day game drive across the Masai Mara National Reserve. This allows you to explore a wider area of the reserve while spending the day following the wildlife activity across the open savannah. The Mara is particularly famous for its large predator population, and you may encounter lions, cheetahs and leopards as well as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos and numerous antelope species. Depending on the season and wildlife movements, you may also encounter migrating wildebeest and zebra. For an unforgettable perspective of the Mara, a hot-air balloon safari is available as an optional activity at an additional cost, taking place very early in the morning. After a full day of exploration, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, check out and begin your cross-border journey from Kenya into Tanzania. You will travel through the western side of Kenya towards the Isebania border, where you will complete the necessary immigration formalities and change from the Kenyan safari vehicle to a Tanzanian safari vehicle. After entering Tanzania, continue towards the Southern Serengeti and the Ndutu area, one of the most important wildlife regions of the Great Migration during the January-to-March season. The journey is a long and demanding transfer day, but it positions you perfectly for the calving spectacle. Upon arrival, check in, enjoy lunch and have a brief rest before proceeding for afternoon activities in the Southern Serengeti, depending on your arrival time. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge or camp.

Today is dedicated to exploring the Southern Serengeti, particularly the Ndutu plains and surrounding short-grass areas where the wildebeest calving season is concentrated during January to March. This is one of the most extraordinary periods in the Serengeti ecosystem, with huge numbers of wildebeest gathering to graze and give birth. The abundance of newborn calves also attracts intense predator activity, creating opportunities to witness lions, cheetahs, hyenas and other predators in action. The herds may be spread across the Southern Serengeti and the adjoining Ngorongoro Conservation Area, so your experienced guide will follow the current wildlife movements. The day will be spent exploring this remarkable landscape and observing the calving season and surrounding wildlife before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

This area is especially rewarding during the calving season, when the plains are alive with wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, together with the predators that follow the herds. You will have the opportunity to explore different areas of the southern plains while your guide searches for the latest concentrations of wildlife and newborn calves. The timing of the migration is naturally influenced by rainfall, so the exact location of the herds can change from year to year. The day offers a wonderful combination of wildlife viewing, dramatic scenery and the possibility of witnessing the extraordinary cycle of birth and survival that makes the Serengeti famous. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, check out and continue towards the C Serengeti, travelling through the spectacular landscapes of the national park. This transition allows you to experience the changing scenery and wildlife habitats of the Serengeti rather than concentrating on only one region. Upon arrival in the Central Serengeti, check in at your lodge, enjoy lunch and have a brief rest before proceeding for afternoon activities. The Central Serengeti, particularly the Seronera area, is renowned for its excellent year-round wildlife and is home to a strong concentration of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and other plains game. During your January-to-March safari, migration activity may also be experienced in and around the Central Serengeti, particularly as the herds begin shifting from the southern plains. This movement was observed in the Central Serengeti as early as late February in the recent season, although wildlife movements are naturally not guaranteed. Dinner and overnight.

Since the migration follows rainfall and fresh grazing, the exact location of the herds cannot be guaranteed, but the Central Serengeti remains an excellent wildlife destination regardless of their precise position.
