Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your adventure begins either at Kilimanjaro Airport, where the moment your plane touches down, Africa welcomes you stepping off, you're greeted by warm Tanzanian air and the distant silhouette of Kilimanjaro on the horizon, your guide waiting to whisk you straight into the safari or, if you're already in Arusha, with an early morning pick-up from your hotel, your guide waiting to set the tone for the days ahead; either way, two hours later you arrive at Tarangire National Park, where ancient baobabs rise like sentinels and you discover why this park holds one of Africa's largest elephant populations, following the Tarangire River as lions may reveal themselves in golden grass, while giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, impalas and birdlife move around you, before a picnic lunch inside the park and an afternoon game drive, soaking in every sighting before departing for Mto wa Mbu, where dinner and rest await.

After breakfast, a short drive brings you to Lake Manyara National Park compact in size, yet extraordinary in diversity. Step into a lush groundwater forest, open savannah grasslands and the shimmering alkaline lake, often dressed in pink by thousands of flamingos. Keep your camera close: elephants, hippos, giraffes, baboons and playful blue monkeys are regular company here, and if fortune favors you, you may glimpse Manyara's famous tree-climbing lions resting in the branches above.
Following a picnic lunch and afternoon exploration, you'll continue to the charming town of Karatu, settling into your lodge for the evening as you prepare for the crater that awaits tomorrow.

Lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, zebras and wildebeests roam the crater floor, and with a touch of luck, you may spot the rare and endangered black rhino.
Enjoy a picnic lunch beside the hippo pool, taking in the crater's beauty one last time before ascending the crater walls and beginning your return journey to Arusha, where your unforgettable safari comes to a close with your guide dropping you off either at your hotel to rest and reflect on the adventure, or directly at Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your onward flight.
