You will be picked by your driver guide at your hotel in Entebbe for transfer to Kasese town for an overnight preparing for your Rwenzori mountains trek to summit Margherita peak 5,109m asl. You will drive to the countryside of the Kampala city, enjoy the green landscapes until you arrive at the foothills of the magnificent Rwenzori Mountains hanging up in the skies, have a stopover along the way for hot lunch and then arrive in Kasese for relaxation, gear check and preparation for the next day hike into the Rwenzori mountains national park.

Day 2

Have an early morning breakfast before checking out of your hotel for transfer to Omukorukumi before hiking through the community of Kasanzi starting off your trek before you enter the Rwenzori mountains national park through the Bukurungu wilderness camping trail.
You will meet your porters and have an interaction as you give away your backpack for carrying.
Proceed hiking with some resting points along the community trail before entering the park to arrive at Kasanzi camp 1km into the tropical forest for a rest.
The climb from Omukorukumi to Kasanzi camp takes 4-6 hours.

After a hot breakfast depart for Kambeho camp (Kambeho means a place of coldness in Lhukonzo) also locally known as Lhume camp named after River Lhume.
Getting to this camp takes you through the heather trees (Ericathiasis) with lots of moss hanging - over these trees like the old man beard.
Kambeho camp lies in the heather zone which is characterized by views of hanging valleys and it is through the same zone where both varieties of monkeys can be met- The black colubus monkeys, Black and white, and Vavet monkeys. It is the zone of the Rwenzori Turracco, a rare beautiful bird in the park
Arrive at Kambeho camp in the late afternoon for hot drink, dinner and an overnight.

Early morning leave Kambeho camp after a somewhat cold night climbing along River Lhume taking the Mughuli pass the only steep bypass on the trail.
After a steep climb on Mughuli bypass descend down past Lake Mughuli which is within a strong MTN network service to allow you catch up with some mobile phone calls before proceeding to Lamia camp.
There are several unnamed beautiful peaks which can easily be climbed by those interested as they acclimatize for climbing the Portal peaks and Mount Gessi. Around the camp, you can easily explore the water falls which gives the real taste of the Rwenzori mountains waters. Overnight at Lamia camp.

This is your last day along the Bukurungu Rwenzori mountains climbing route joining the Central circuit trail at the beginning of the lower Bigo bog before crossing River Bujuku.
Descend down from Lamia camp down past the Bukurungu lakes before reaching the Bujuku River bridge on the lower Bigo walk boards.
Climb gently to Bigo camp to pitch your tents for an overnight or sleep at John Maate hut for a warmer night.

Depending on where you spent the night whether at John Maate camp or Bigo camp, depart with an aim of making it to Elena camp to prepare for your summit of Mount Stanley Margherita peak 5,109m asl.
Cross the Lower Bigo bog before climbing a narrow section to the upper Bigo bog.
Continue to the Omukendeghe shelter for a rest before continuing through the Bujuku valley bog.
Climb westwards towards Elena hut crossing the route to Kitandara camp from Bujuku camp.
Here you will enter the Afro alpine zone climbing through rocky sections before reaching the cold Elena camp at 4,505m asl for an overnight.

Very early in the morning, you attempt climbing the highest peak, Margherita of Mount Stanley. To reach the summit of Margherita, the climb takes about 4 -5 hours depending on the weather conditions and the pace of climbing this mountain covering a distance of 2.5km-3.5km.
This tough walk takes you over three glaciers, slippery rock, ice and very exposed areas which are open on many sides. Climbing on to the glaciers, cross the Stanley Plateau and proceed with the ascent. Acclimatized to fog, altitude sickness and coolly weather, scramble up to the summit of Margherita the highest peak of the Rwenzori mountains. The Descend from Margherita peak back to Elena Hut, after lunch, descend to the Scott-Elliot pass 4372m, where there are spectacular views of Bujuku Lake and Mount Speke. After, go through alpine zone of sparse vegetation and rough boulders, descend past the Kitandara Lakes for dinner and overnight at the Kitandara camp.
Descend duration: 3 – 4 hours. Distance: 2.7km.

From Kitandara, take on the trail that ascends steeply up the headwall, spreading out from the base of Mount Baker and continuing along the south side of the mountain to Fresh field Pass 4282m asl. At this point you can view into the Congo to the west and Mount Stanley to the north. From the pass, take on the long high alpine mossy. Thereafter start the descend through steep rocky trails and the rock shelter at Bujongolo, the base camp for the historic expedition by the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906 and then an overnight at Guy yeoman camp.
Hike duration: 6 – 7 hours. Distance: 4.5km.

Below Guy Yeoman, the route descends the cliffs of Kichuchu. Beyond Kichuchu the muddy path crosses the Mubuku River twice through a bamboo forest before climbing downwards to Nyabitaba to complete the circuit. Distance covered to Nyabitaba hut from Guy yeoman hut is approximately 5.9km.
Continue descending Nyabitaba Camp and complete your trek by the evening to Mihunga gate a distance of 7km before proceeding to your hotel in Kasese town to end your 8 days Rwenzori mountains trekking trip.

After breakfast at your hotel in Kasese, you will check out of your accommodation and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park for a morning game drive via the Uganda Equator monument.
You will be transferred to Kasenyi sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive. During the game drive, you will drive via the various channel tracks in search of Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards, antelopes and several bird life.
You shall also have a view of the salt mining lakes within Queen Elizabeth as you relax and stretch. You will then be transferred to your Lodge for your Lunch.
later return to the park for evening game drive or stay at the lodge for the evening relaxation, have dinner and an overnight.

Day 11

Wake up early and have morning breakfast, join your driver guide and proceed to the starting point of Kyambura gorge for Chimpanzee Trekking, briefing by the park rangers or guides.
Briefing: You will have briefing by the Park guides and then a Chimpanzee walk in the gorge. Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge can be little bit strenuous and a certain level of fitness is required. When you find the Chimps, you will spend one hour with them before you retire to your lodge
After the experience, transfer to the lodge for a hot lunch or enjoy your packed lunch as you wait to proceed to the starting point for your afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel where you will spot various bird life and wild life. Finally, return to the lodge for over night stay.

Transfer return to Entebbe
After breakfast at your Lodge, you will check out of your accommodation.
Thereafter, transfer back to Entebbe airport to catch up with departure or an overnight rest, and this will mark the end of your 14 days trip.
