Arusha (1400m) – Miriakamba Hut (2500m)

Your VIP journey begins with a morning pick-up in a private 4x4 land cruiser for a scenic drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. After completing registration and meeting your dedicated crew—including a senior guide, private cook, and armed park ranger—you set off on foot. The lower slopes wind through lush montane forest, where you will encounter wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, zebra herds, and energetic black-and-white colobus monkeys. As you ascend steadily along the Southern Route, passing under the iconic giant Fig Tree Arch, your guide shares insights into the local ecosystem. Midday brings a hot gourmet picnic lunch prepared by your private chef. You continue climbing through dramatic landscapes to reach Miriakamba Hut (2,514 m) by late afternoon. Your team sets up comfortable quarters with upgraded mattresses and warm sleeping bags. Enjoy afternoon tea, a multi-course dinner, and a thorough health briefing with pulse oximeter checks before resting.

Following a hearty breakfast, you leave Miriakamba Hut and trek up steep wooden steps along a ridge through the heather and moorland zone. The path offers spectacular views of the Meru Crater and the towering ash cone. By early afternoon, you arrive at Saddle Hut (3,560 m), where warm drinks and a freshly cooked hot lunch await you in your private dining setup. After settling into your quarters, you take an afternoon acclimatization hike to the summit of Little Meru (3,820 m). This short trek delivers panoramic vistas across the reserve and helps prepare your body for the high altitude ahead. Returning to Saddle Hut, your crew conducts an evening health check and serves an early, carbohydrate-rich dinner to maximize energy reserves. Saddle Hut (3500m) – Summit Attempt (4566m) – Arusha (1400m)

Your summit push starts around midnight with a hot drink and light snacks. Guided by headlamps, you climb along the narrow, rocky knife-edge ridge of the crater rim under a starry sky. Navigating Rhino Point (3,800 m) and Cobra Point (4,350 m), you reach Socialist Peak (4,566 m) just as the sun rises over Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. After celebrating and capturing stunning photographs at Tanzania’s second-highest summit, you begin your descent back to Saddle Hut for a hot breakfast and brief rest. Because this is a streamlined 3-day itinerary, you continue descending down the mountain, passing Miriakamba Hut and trekking down through the forest to Momella Gate by late afternoon.
