Continue through Fort Portal, the "Tourism City of Uganda," with views of the towering Rwenzori Mountains—known as the "Mountains of the Moon." Arrive at Kibale National Park in the afternoon. Embark on a guided nature walk exploring the crater lakes area, learning about local culture, and spotting wildlife. Check into your eco-lodge, nestled near the forest edge. Divide into groups of eight and enter the lush rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzee troops, habituated since 1992. Listen for their pant-hooting calls echoing through the canopy. Upon locating them, spend one magical hour observing their playful antics—grooming, feeding, and swinging effortlessly through the trees. Learn about other primates, local flora, and fauna from your expert guide. Return to the starting point for a hearty lunch.
