Day 1

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by your Nature Quest Safaris representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. After checking in, meet your mountain guide for a detailed pre-climb briefing, where you'll learn about the trek, safety procedures, and what to expect in the days ahead. Your climbing gear will then be carefully inspected to ensure you have everything needed for a safe and comfortable ascent. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at the hotel, preparing both physically and mentally for the adventure that awaits on Africa's highest mountain.

Day 2

Marangu Gate to Mandara hut

After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate, where registration is completed before your Kilimanjaro adventure officially begins. Follow a well maintained trail through the lush montane rainforest, where towering trees, colorful birds, and playful blue monkeys create a memorable start to the trek. After a steady hike, arrive at Mandara Hut, your first overnight stop on the mountain. If time allows, take a short walk to Maundi Crater for panoramic views before returning to the hut for dinner and a restful night.

Day 3

Leave the rainforest behind as the trail climbs into open heath and moorland, offering your first clear views of Kilimanjaro's towering peaks. As you gain altitude, the landscape changes dramatically, with giant lobelias and groundsels replacing the dense forest. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and ever-expanding scenery before arriving at Horombo Hut, where you'll have time to relax, acclimatize, and prepare for the next stage of your journey. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at the hut.

Day 4

Aclimatiization at Horombo Hut

Aclimatiization at Horombo Hut

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, an important part of improving your chances of reaching the summit successfully. After breakfast, take a guided hike to a higher elevation before returning to Horombo Hut, following the "climb high, sleep low" principle. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding alpine landscape while allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. Return to the hut for lunch and spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the trek to Kibo Hut the following day. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Horombo Hut.

Day 5

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

After breakfast, leave Horombo Hut and continue your ascent across the vast alpine desert toward Kibo Hut. The trail passes through the Saddle, a broad, barren plateau that stretches between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo, offering a striking contrast to the landscapes of the previous days. Upon arrival at Kibo Hut, enjoy an early dinner and spend the rest of the afternoon resting as you prepare for the midnight summit attempt. A few hours of sleep will help you get ready for the most challenging and rewarding stage of your Kilimanjaro adventure.

Day 6

Around midnight, begin the final ascent to the Roof of Africa under a sky filled with stars. Step by step, make your way to Gilman's Point (5,681m), where the first light of day reveals breathtaking views across the mountain. Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa, and celebrate this remarkable achievement with unforgettable summit photos. After taking in the moment, begin your descent to Horombo Hut for a well earned rest before continuing to Marangu Gate. Upon arrival, receive your summit certificate and transfer back to your hotel in Arusha preparing for next day adventure.

Day 7

Arusha to Tarangire

Arusha to Tarangire

After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, a landscape of ancient baobab trees and one of Tanzania's largest elephant populations. Spend the day exploring the park in search of elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and a variety of birdlife. In the late afternoon, leave the park and continue to Mto wa Mbu for dinner and an overnight stay.
