Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

You have an early morning pickup from the airport/hotel in Nairobi for a scenic drive to the north of Kenya

You travel through Kenya's changing landscapes, passing through agricultural areas and the dramatic northern terrain as you approach the Samburu ecosystem.

You arrive at Samburu Sopa Lodge in time for lunch and check-in.

In the afternoon, you will head out for your first game drive in Samburu National Reserve. You will explore the open plains and riverine areas along the Ewaso Nyiro River, looking for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and big cats.

You return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Full-Day in Samburu National Reserve

You wake up early and enjoy breakfast before heading out for a morning game drive.

The early hours offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, with your guide focusing on the Samburu Special Five as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs and elephants.

You return to Samburu Sopa Lodge for lunch and some time to relax.

In the afternoon, you continue with another game drive, exploring different areas of the reserve and following the Ewaso Nyiro River.

Keep an eye out for elephants coming to drink, crocodiles along the riverbanks, and the diverse birdlife that thrives around the water.

You return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Samburu – Buffalo Springs National Reserve

After breakfast, you cross into Buffalo Springs National Reserve for a full day of wildlife exploration.

Buffalo Springs offers a different landscape from Samburu, with open plains, doum palms, natural springs and riverine habitats.

You will enjoy a morning game drive searching for elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras and the region's unique northern species.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch or return to the lodge, depending on the preferred game-drive schedule.

You continue exploring Buffalo Springs in the afternoon before returning to Samburu Sopa Lodge.

You will enjoy your final evening at the lodge.
