Your safari begins with a morning departure from Arusha, heading toward Tarangire National Park, famous for its enormous elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and diverse wildlife. As you enter the park, your first game drive begins through landscapes of golden grasslands, acacia woodland and seasonal wetlands. Keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas and, with some luck, lions and leopards.

Tarangire is particularly renowned for its large elephant populations, and watching family groups move peacefully through the park is a memorable experience. Your guide will take you along different tracks in search of wildlife while explaining the park's ecosystems and animal behavior.

Central to northern Serengeti

After a heartly breakfast, you'll start heading towards the Northern of Serengeti, one of Tanzania's most spectacular and remote safari regions, crossing the vast Serengeti plains while searching for wildlife along the way.

The exact location of the migrating herds changes according to rainfall, grazing conditions and river levels, making every safari unique. As you approach the northern region, the landscape becomes more rugged, with rolling hills, rocky outcrops and woodland surrounding the open plains. The area is famous for dramatic encounters involving wildebeest, zebras, crocodiles and predators, particularly around the Mara River when the migration is in the region.

Spend the afternoon enjoying game viewing in the Northern Serengeti, looking for lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and other resident wildlife.

Later on, return to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay beneath the African sky.

Northern Serengeti to karatu district

Wake early for breakfast before enjoying another rewarding game drive in the Northern Serengeti. An early start offers excellent opportunities to see wildlife when temperatures are cooler and predators are often active.
Depending on the seasonal position of the migration, you may encounter large concentrations of wildebeest and zebra or witness fascinating predator-prey interactions across the plains.

After your morning exploration, begin the journey south toward Karatu. The drive provides another opportunity to appreciate Tanzania's changing landscapes as you gradually leave the Serengeti ecosystem behind.

Stop for lunch along the way before continuing toward the fertile highlands around Karatu, located near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The cooler climate and lush surroundings provide a pleasant contrast to the Serengeti plains. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, relax after the day's journey and enjoy dinner before your final safari adventure in the Ngorongoro Crater.

The crater is home to an impressive concentration of wildlife, offering opportunities to spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, gazelles and, with luck, the endangered black rhinoceros. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the crater excursion before continuing your game drive.

Later in the afternoon, ascend from the crater and begin your drive back to Arusha.
