Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National park

Arusha to Tarangire National park

Your safari begins after breakfast as you leave Arusha and travel towards Tarangire National Park, famous for its enormous baobab trees, seasonal wetlands and large elephant populations. Spend the day on a game drive through the park, exploring the river valleys and open savannah in search of elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes and other wildlife.

Tarangire is especially important for its large elephant populations, ancient baobab trees and seasonal wildlife concentrations. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a vital water source, attracting huge numbers of animals from across the surrounding ecosystem.

Enjoy a bush picnic lunch in the park before continuing your afternoon game drive as wildlife gathers around the Tarangire River. In the late afternoon, leave the park and travel towards the Ngorongoro Highlands, arriving at your accommodation for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Continue exploring into the late afternoon before heading to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay in the wilderness.

Serengeti National Park

Rise early for a morning game drive, when the cooler temperatures create some of the best conditions for wildlife viewing. Follow animal tracks across the plains and rocky kopjes, keeping a particular eye out for predators and the elusive leopard. Depending on recent sightings, your guide can focus the day around areas where the Big Five are most likely to be encountered.

Enjoy a bush picnic lunch in the Serengeti before continuing with an afternoon game drive, exploring a different section of the park and watching the wildlife become increasingly active towards sunset. Return to camp in the evening after a full day immersed in the Serengeti.

Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, depart towards the Ngorongoro Crater and descend onto the crater floor for a spectacular morning game drive. The crater is one of Tanzania’s best places to search for the Big Five, particularly buffalo, elephants, lions and the endangered black rhino. Explore the crater’s grasslands, forests, wetlands and lakes, with a picnic lunch overlooking the incredible surroundings.

In the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and continue towards the Lake Manyara Highlands, arriving at your accommodation with beautiful views across the Great Rift Valley. Relax and enjoy the evening before your final day of safari.

Main Destination:

Lake Manyara to Arusha

After breakfast, enter Lake Manyara National Park for your final game drive. Explore the park’s lush groundwater forests, open plains and lakeshore, looking for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, hippos and troops of baboons. Lake Manyara protects a remarkably diverse landscape within a relatively small area, from groundwater forests and woodland to open plains and the alkaline lake. It is particularly known for elephants, birdlife and tree-climbing lions, making it a wonderful contrast to the open Serengeti plains.

Keep an eye out for Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, which can sometimes be spotted resting high above the ground.

Enjoy a final bush picnic lunch before leaving the park in the afternoon and beginning your journey back to Arusha. Arrive in Arusha later in the day, bringing your Big Five safari through Tanzania to a memorable close.
