Welcome to Tanzania! Your adventure begins in Arusha, the lively gateway to the country's famous northern safari circuit. After your arrival, your private driver will meet you and take you to your comfortable hotel. This first evening is intentionally relaxed, giving you time to settle in, freshen up and recover from your journey. You can enjoy a quiet dinner, meet your safari guide and look forward to the days ahead. There is something special about knowing that tomorrow you will wake up in Arusha and, within hours, be surrounded by elephants, baobabs and the sounds of the African bush. Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park Then Karatu

Arusha to Tarangire National Park Then Karatu

After breakfast the city gradually disappears behind you as you drive toward Tarangire National Park. The landscape changes from farmland and villages to open plains dotted with enormous ancient baobabs. Once inside the park your first game drive begins, and this is where Tanzania starts to feel real. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds but there is much more to discover. Keep watch for giraffes moving between the trees, zebras and wildebeest crossing the plains and lions resting in the shade. Take time to stop for photographs and simply watch the animals behaving naturally. After your game drive continue to Karatu for a comfortable evening and a chance to relax after your first exciting day in the wild.

Today is the day many travelers have been waiting for you are heading into the Serengeti. After breakfast you'll leave Karatu and travel through the beautiful highlands before descending toward the vast plains. As the landscape opens up, the feeling changes completely; suddenly there are fewer roads, fewer buildings and an enormous horizon stretching in every direction. Once you enter Serengeti National Park, the game drive begins. Wildlife may appear when you least expect it, from a lion resting beneath a tree to a herd of wildebeest moving across the plains. Your guide will help you read the landscape and find the best opportunities for sightings. By evening, you'll arrive at your accommodation feeling like you've truly entered the wild heart of Tanzania.

Day 4

Full-Day Serengeti Safari

There is no long transfer today so you can wake up, have breakfast and head straight into another full day of Serengeti exploration. This is one of the advantages of spending several nights in the park you have time to slow down and experience it properly. Your guide will follow wildlife activity and choose the areas most likely to offer memorable encounters. You could spend a quiet morning watching a pride of lions, follow elephants across the plains or find large herds of zebra and wildebeest moving through the grass. Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the wilderness, then continue exploring through the afternoon when the changing light gives the Serengeti a completely different character. Return to camp in the evening with another collection of stories and photographs.

Day 5

Nothern Serengeti Safari

Nothern Serengeti Safari

Today takes you into the Northern Serengeti, where the landscape becomes quieter, more remote and wonderfully wild. After breakfast, set out with your guide to explore the northern plains, following wildlife activity and the seasonal movements of the herds. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the dramatic Great Migration as wildebeest and zebra gather around the Mara River, while crocodiles wait in the waters below. Away from the river, keep watch for lions, elephants, giraffes and other wildlife moving through the open plains. With a full day here, there is no need to rush stop for photographs, enjoy a picnic in the wilderness and take in the feeling of being far from the ordinary world. As the sun begins to soften over the Serengeti return to camp with the memories of a truly wild day in northern Tanzania.

After breakfast, you'll leave the Serengeti behind and travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey itself is part of the experience as the endless plains gradually give way to the dramatic landscapes of the highlands. Your highlight today is the descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, where an incredible concentration of wildlife lives within the ancient volcanic caldera. Drive across the crater floor looking for lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, zebras and wildebeest, while your guide explains the landscape and wildlife around you. Stop for lunch and take a moment to appreciate where you are surrounded by wildlife inside one of Tanzania's most remarkable natural environments. After the crater experience, ascend and continue to Karatu for a comfortable and peaceful evening.

Your final safari morning brings one more change of scenery as you head to Lake Manyara National Park. After the open landscapes of the Serengeti and the crater Manyara welcomes you with lush forests, open grasslands and the shimmering lake. The park is home to elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, baboons and an impressive variety of birdlife, so keep your camera close until the very end. Your guide will make the most of your final game drive, giving you time to stop whenever something catches your attention. Eventually, you'll leave the park and begin the journey back to Arusha.
