Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your gorilla adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport, where you embark on a scenic full-day drive (approximately 8–10 hours) southwestward through Uganda's lush countryside. Pass by the Equator line (great photo stop), rolling tea plantations, traditional Ankole long-horned cattle, and the dramatic Kigezi Highlands with terraced hillsides, arriving in Bwindi in the late afternoon. Check into your chosen lodge and enjoy a welcome dinner, and prepare for tomorrow's big trek with a briefing from your guide. Spend the night in Bwindi.

Best Time To Visit June to August and December to February (Gorilla trekking is easiest)

Gorilla Tracking - Mountain Gorilla Encouter

Gorilla Tracking - Mountain Gorilla Encouter

Rise early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for the morning briefing. Here, rangers share rules, assign you to one of the habituated gorilla families (based on fitness level and permit allocation), and introduce expert trackers and guides. The trek begins anywhere from 2 to 8 hours through dense rainforest, bamboo zones, steep slopes, and tangled vines (difficulty varies; good fitness and sturdy boots recommended). Once located, spend a magical one hour quietly observing the gorillas: watch silverbacks chest-beat, juveniles play, mothers nurse infants, and the family forage peacefully. Photography is allowed (no flash). Return to your lodge by early/mid-afternoon. Relax, enjoy the forest views, or join an optional short nature walk or Batwa cultural experience to learn about the indigenous forest people's traditions (song, dance, hunting techniques). Spend a night in Bwindi.
