Arusha – Northern Serengeti

Arusha – Northern Serengeti

Your adventure begins early in the morning with departure from Arusha. The journey to Northern Serengeti is a long but rewarding drive through the beautiful landscapes of northern Tanzania. As you approach Serengeti National Park, the scenery changes into vast open plains and rolling hills, creating the perfect introduction to your safari.

After entering the park, your safari officially begins with game viewing along the route towards Northern Serengeti. Your guide will keep an eye out for wildlife and will make stops whenever there are interesting sightings, enjoy your picnic lunch in the park. As you continue north, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, antelopes and predators. In the late afternoon, continue towards your campsite, with the guide direction you will assist in tenting the tents and prepare the sleeping environment in the Northern Serengeti, where you will enjoy dinner and spend your first night surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Northern Serengeti – Mara River Area

After an early breakfast, begin a full-day game drive in Northern Serengeti with a particular focus on the Mara River and surrounding plains. During the migration season, large numbers of wildebeest and zebra move through this region, creating one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences in Africa.

Your experienced guide will monitor the location and movement of the herds and choose the best areas to explore. You may find large groups of wildebeest gathering close to the riverbanks, sometimes waiting for hours before attempting to cross. The area is also home to resident wildlife and predators, so you may encounter lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and many different species of antelope.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness before continuing your afternoon exploration. As the day comes to an end, return to your campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Full-Day Mara River Migration Experience

Full-Day Mara River Migration Experience

Today is dedicated entirely to experiencing the Great Migration around the Mara River. After an early breakfast, set out with your picnic lunch for a full day in the northern Serengeti.

The Mara River is one of the most dramatic points of the migration. Large herds of wildebeest and zebra may gather along the riverbanks before attempting to cross. If the herds decide to cross during your visit, you may witness an incredible natural spectacle as thousands of animals enter the water while crocodiles wait below and predators patrol the surrounding areas.

Because the migration follows natural conditions, there is no fixed schedule for a river crossing. Your guide will therefore spend time monitoring the herds and moving between suitable viewing areas where permitted. After a full day of exploration, return to camp for dinner and a relaxing evening under the African sky.

Northern Serengeti – Ngorongoro Highlands

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before beginning your journey south from Northern Serengeti towards the Ngorongoro Highlands. This is another opportunity to enjoy game viewing as you travel through the Serengeti, with your guide making stops whenever interesting wildlife is spotted.

As you leave the Serengeti behind, the landscape gradually changes from open savannah plains to the spectacular highlands surrounding the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The cooler temperatures, green vegetation and dramatic volcanic scenery create a beautiful contrast to the Serengeti.

Depending on the route and wildlife conditions, you may enjoy additional game viewing during the journey. Arrive in the Ngorongoro Highlands in the late afternoon, settle into your campsite and enjoy a relaxing evening in the cool highland environment.

Rise early and have breakfast before driving to the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Tanzania's most extraordinary wildlife destinations. Descend into the crater for an exciting morning game drive across the crater floor.

The Ngorongoro Crater is home to a remarkable concentration of wildlife. During your game drive, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas and a wide variety of bird species. With luck, you may also have the opportunity to see the endangered black rhinoceros.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater before beginning your ascent. After leaving the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, continue towards Arusha, arriving in the afternoon or evening.
