Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading north through Kenya's changing landscapes. The journey takes you through agricultural areas, highland scenery, and increasingly rugged terrain as you approach northern Kenya. The changing scenery makes the drive part of the experience as you transition from the capital into a drier and more dramatic wilderness environment.

Arrive in the Samburu area and begin your first game drive after settling into your lodge or tented camp. Explore the reserve's open plains and riverine habitats while searching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, lions, leopards, and other wildlife. Keep an eye out for distinctive northern species including Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich.

Samburu Wildlife Safari

Spend the entire day exploring Samburu National Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. The early morning drive offers excellent opportunities to observe wildlife while temperatures are cooler and animals are active. Your guide will explore different habitats along the reserve and near the Ewaso Ng'iro River, looking for predators, elephants, and the reserve's distinctive northern species.

After a midday break, continue with an afternoon game drive across the reserve. Search for lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes while enjoying the dramatic scenery of northern Kenya. The day can be tailored toward photography, birdwatching, predators, or general wildlife viewing depending on your interests.

Begin your final morning with an early game drive, providing one last opportunity to explore Samburu's wildlife-rich landscapes. Search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, predators, and the reserve's unique northern species while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the morning wilderness. Your guide will focus on areas with the best wildlife activity before you leave the reserve.

After the game drive, begin your return journey to Nairobi. Travel south through the changing landscapes of central Kenya, watching the rugged northern scenery gradually give way to greener highlands and agricultural areas. Arrive in Nairobi later in the day, concluding your three-day Samburu wildlife adventure.
