Pick Up from Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi National Park – Stay at Ichumbi Hotel Kisoro

Your safari begins with a morning pickup from Kigali by your Ripple Safaris driver-guide. After a briefing, travel through Rwanda’s rolling hills, terraced farms and rural communities toward southwestern Uganda. Cross the Rwanda-Uganda border at Cyanika or Katuna, depending on the route, and continue to Kisoro, a scenic highland town surrounded by the Virunga Mountains.

Enjoy spectacular views of volcanic peaks and lush countryside while learning about the region, local communities and gorilla conservation. Upon arrival, check in at Ichumbi Hotel and relax. Your guide will brief you about the next day’s gorilla trek, including departure time, suitable clothing, footwear, packed lunch and forest conditions. Enjoy dinner and rest early before entering Bwindi’s ancient rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family.

Gorilla Trekking and Transfer Back to Kigali

Wake up early for breakfast before travelling to the gorilla trekking briefing point. Meet the Uganda Wildlife Authority guides and trackers for a briefing on safety, trekking rules and responsible wildlife viewing.

The trek may take several hours through dense vegetation, steep trails and beautiful rainforest scenery. Experienced trackers will lead the way while your guides explain the forest ecosystem and identify signs of wildlife activity.

Once you find the gorillas, enjoy an unforgettable encounter as they feed, rest, groom and interact naturally. Observe their behavior while following official guidelines and maintaining the required distance.

After the trek, return to the starting point and meet your driver-guide. Begin the scenic journey back to Kigali, crossing the Uganda-Rwanda border and travelling through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside. Upon arrival, you will be dropped at your hotel, residence or Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your safari.
