Your safari begins with a morning pickup from Kigali by your Ripple Safaris driver-guide. After a short briefing, leave the city and travel north toward Volcanoes National Park. The scenic drive takes you through Rwanda’s spectacular countryside, characterized by rolling green hills, terraced farms, and beautiful mountain scenery.

As you approach Musanze, the magnificent Virunga Mountains come into view. This volcanic landscape forms part of one of Africa’s most important habitats for endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. Your guide will share fascinating information about the region, local communities and conservation efforts protecting its unique wildlife.

Upon arrival in the Volcanoes National Park area, check in at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings while preparing for the next day’s golden monkey trekking adventure. Your guide will brief you about the trek, recommended clothing, footwear, departure time and forest conditions.

Wake up early for breakfast before heading to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a golden monkey trekking briefing. Meet your guides and trackers, who will explain safety procedures, trekking regulations and responsible wildlife viewing.

Begin your trek through the Virunga ecosystem in search of endangered golden monkeys. Watch these lively primates leap through bamboo branches, feed, groom and interact naturally. Your guides will share information about the forest and help identify signs of wildlife.

After the trek, return for refreshments before crossing the Rwanda-Uganda border and continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Arrive at Gorilla Leisure Lodge, check in and relax. Your guide will brief you about the next day’s gorilla trek, including the terrain, clothing and safety guidelines. Enjoy dinner and rest early.

Gorilla Trekking and Transfer Back to Kigali

Wake up early for breakfast before travelling to the gorilla trekking briefing point. Meet the Uganda Wildlife Authority guides and trackers for a safety briefing, then enter Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of your assigned gorilla family.

The trek may take several hours through dense vegetation, steep trails and rugged rainforest terrain. Experienced trackers lead the way while guides explain the forest ecosystem and identify signs of wildlife. Once you find the gorillas, enjoy an unforgettable encounter as they feed, rest, groom and interact naturally. Observe them respectfully while following official guidelines and maintaining the required distance.

After the trek, return to the starting point and meet your driver-guide. Begin the scenic journey to Kigali, crossing the Uganda-Rwanda border and travelling through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, residence or Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your safari.
