Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your Kili Extra Miles Adventure & Safaris representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.

Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the hotel, explore the city or enjoy a short briefing with your safari guide. This is also an opportunity to prepare for the exciting safari ahead.

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your safari adventure begins with a drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, approximately 2–3 hours away. Tarangire is particularly famous for its large elephant populations, spectacular baobab trees and diverse wildlife.

After entering the park, begin your game drive through the beautiful savannah landscapes. You may encounter elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, antelopes and numerous bird species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated picnic site before continuing your afternoon game drive. Later, leave the park and drive toward the Lake Eyasi/Karatu area for dinner and overnight.

Lake Eyasi Cultural Experience

After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Eyasi, a fascinating cultural destination away from the main safari circuit.

Here you will meet members of the Hadzabe community, one of Tanzania's indigenous hunter-gatherer communities. Depending on the day's activities, you may experience traditional hunting techniques, learn about their use of wild plants and medicines, and gain insight into their traditional way of life.

You can also visit the Datoga community and learn about their traditional skills, including metalworking and livestock keeping.

After the cultural experience, continue toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy the spectacular scenery as you approach the Ngorongoro Highlands.

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha / Departure

After an early breakfast, descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for an exciting game drive.

The crater's enclosed ecosystem supports an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. During your exploration, look for elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, lions and, with luck, the endangered black rhinoceros.

Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater while surrounded by breathtaking scenery and wildlife.

In the afternoon, ascend from the crater and begin your journey back to Arusha. Depending on your departure flight, you can be transferred to your hotel or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
