Addis Abeba to Semera – Hamed Ela – Lake Asale

Fly from Addis Ababa to Semera. Meet your driver, local Afar guide, and 4×4 vehicle. Drive toward Hamed Ela through the spectacular Afar landscape. Stop at Lake Afdera for lunch and a view of the salt lake. Continue to Hamed Ela. In the late afternoon, visit Lake Asale (Lake Assal) and its vast salt flats. Enjoy sunset over the salt plains and see traditional salt-caravan activity.
Overnight: open-air camping at Hamed Ela.

Dallol – Lake Asale – Erta Ale

Early morning departure for Dallol, one of the world's most extreme geothermal landscapes. Explore the colorful mineral formations, salt formations, sulfur springs, and volcanic landscape. Visit the surrounding salt plains and see traditional salt-mining activity. Return toward Hamed Ela for lunch. Continue by 4×4 toward Erta Ale volcano.
Late afternoon/evening trek toward the volcano's crater. Experience the volcanic landscape and, depending on current volcanic conditions and visibility, observe the glowing lava.
Overnight: basic open-air camping near Erta Ale.

Erta Ale – Afdera – Semera – lalibela

Sunrise at Erta Ale and breakfast at camp. Descend from the volcano and drive toward Afdera. Continue to Semera. Take a scheduled domestic flight from Semera toward Lalibela, normally requiring connection planning through Addis Ababa. Arrive in Lalibela and transfer to your hotel. Evening at leisure to rest after the demanding Danakil section.
