Nairobi - Amboseli National Park

Your safari begins in Nairobi, where your guide will pick you up and you’ll set off towards Amboseli National Park. As you leave the city behind, the scenery gradually opens up into wide plains and rural landscapes, with Mount Kilimanjaro often appearing in the distance as you approach the park.

On arrival, you’ll check in at your accommodation and enjoy lunch before heading out for your first game drive in the afternoon. Amboseli is especially famous for its large elephant herds, but you may also encounter lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and many other species. With its open landscapes, wetlands and iconic Kilimanjaro backdrop, it is a spectacular place to begin your safari. Your guide will take time to explore different parts of the park, stopping at scenic viewpoints and following fresh wildlife sightings before you return to your accommodation in the evening for dinner and a relaxed night in the bush.

Amboseli National Park

Today you have the whole day to experience Amboseli at a relaxed pace. With no long transfer ahead, there is plenty of time to follow wildlife sightings, stop for photographs and spend longer observing animals in their natural surroundings.

Amboseli is shaped by a fascinating contrast of dry plains, seasonal lakes and permanent swamps, creating habitats for an impressive variety of wildlife. You may see elephants moving between feeding areas, predators resting in the shade and large groups of plains game spread across the open landscape. Your guide will adapt the route throughout the day depending on where the wildlife is most active.

A full day in the park gives you the freedom to explore beyond the main routes and enjoy the quieter corners of Amboseli, with time for a picnic lunch and scenic stops along the way.

Amboseli National Park - Nairobi

After breakfast, you’ll leave Ol Amboseli and begin the journey back to Nairobi. Enjoy the changing landscapes along the way as you travel from the southern part of the country back towards the capital.

On arrival in Nairobi, your guide can drop you off at your accommodation, Nairobi Railway Station or the airport, depending on your onward travel plans. This marks the end of your safari and your time exploring Amboseli National Park.
