Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi toward the Masai Mara, travelling through the scenic Great Rift Valley. Enjoy a stop at a viewpoint before continuing through Kenya's countryside and Maasai communities toward the reserve. Arrive in time for lunch before checking into your lodge or tented camp. Later, head out on your first afternoon game drive across the Mara's open grasslands, searching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and big cats before returning for dinner and overnight.

Full-Day Masai Mara Game Drive

After an early breakfast, spend the day exploring the Masai Mara on an extensive game drive. Search the reserve's grasslands, riverine areas and wildlife-rich plains for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and other species. Carry a picnic lunch so you can maximize your time inside the reserve. Your guide will select areas according to recent wildlife sightings and seasonal conditions. During the Great Migration season, you may encounter large concentrations of wildebeest and zebra moving through the Mara ecosystem.

Enjoy another full day in the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. Start early when predators and other wildlife are often most active, then return to camp for breakfast and some relaxation. After lunch, venture out again to explore a different section of the reserve. Look for wildlife missed during previous drives and take advantage of opportunities for photography. Depending on the season, you may see large herds of herbivores, active predators and, during migration months, significant wildebeest and zebra concentrations.

After breakfast, leave the Masai Mara and travel toward Lake Nakuru through the scenic landscapes of Kenya's Great Rift Valley. Arrive around Lake Nakuru for lunch before entering the national park for an afternoon game drive. Explore the lake's surrounding woodland and grasslands while searching for black and white rhinos, Rothschild's giraffes, buffalo, zebras, waterbuck and other wildlife. The park is also known for its diverse birdlife. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
