After breakfast in Moshi, drive to the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro and proceed to Lemosho Gate for registration and park formalities. The trek begins through beautiful montane rainforest, where you may encounter birds, monkeys and lush vegetation. Continue along the forest trail to Big Tree Camp, where your mountain crew prepares dinner and your tent for the first night.

Day 2
Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp
Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp
After breakfast, leave the rainforest behind as the trail gradually climbs into the moorland zone. The vegetation becomes shorter and the landscape opens dramatically, offering your first impressive views across the mountain slopes. Continue toward the Shira Plateau and Shira 1 Camp. The relatively moderate walking pace allows your body to begin adapting to the increasing altitude while you enjoy the changing Kilimanjaro scenery.

Day 3
Shira 1 to Shira 2 via Shira Plateau

Today is designed as an acclimatization day across the spectacular Shira Plateau. Walk through open high-altitude terrain surrounded by volcanic formations and expansive views of Kilimanjaro. The gradual ascent gives you valuable time to adapt to the altitude without excessive physical strain. Depending on conditions and the guide's assessment, you may take a short acclimatization walk before returning to camp for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 4
Shira 2 to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Today provides one of the most important acclimatization experiences of the trek. Ascend toward Lava Tower at approximately 4,600 m before descending toward Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” approach helps your body adapt to altitude. The trail passes through dramatic alpine desert landscapes before reaching the spectacular Barranco Valley, beneath the imposing Barranco Wall.

Day 5
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

After breakfast, tackle the famous Barranco Wall with the assistance of your experienced mountain crew. Although steep in places, the trail is manageable with a steady pace and careful footing. At the top, enjoy rewarding views before continuing across ridges and valleys toward Karanga Camp. The shorter hiking distance provides another valuable opportunity for acclimatization and rest ahead of the summit stages.

Day 6
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Today's trek leads from Karanga toward Barafu Camp, the final major camp before the summit attempt. The landscape becomes increasingly barren as you enter the alpine desert zone. Upon reaching Barafu, your guide will brief you about the summit climb and help you prepare your equipment. Enjoy an early dinner and rest as much as possible because the summit attempt begins during the night.

Day 7
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Begin the summit attempt around midnight, climbing slowly through the darkness toward Stella Point on the crater rim. Continue along the rim toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 m, where you can celebrate reaching the highest point in Africa. After photographs and a short rest, descend through the volcanic terrain toward Mweka Camp. The descent is long but provides a welcome return to lower altitude.

Day 8
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi
After breakfast, begin the final descent through Kilimanjaro's lush rainforest toward Mweka Gate. Once at the gate, complete the park exit procedures and collect your summit certificate. Meet your transfer vehicle and drive back to Moshi for a well-earned shower, meal and relaxation. Depending on your onward travel arrangements, you can continue to Kilimanjaro International Airport or extend your stay in Tanzania.
