4-Day Conquer Mount Meru Trekking Adventure

Arusha town to Park's gate to Miriakamba Hut (2470 m

After breakfast, depart from your hotel in Arusha and drive to Arusha National Park Gate, where your Mount Meru adventure begins. After completing entry formalities, start the trek accompanied by an armed ranger for safety. The trail winds through lush forest, offering opportunities to spot elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and other wildlife. Your guide and porters will carry the necessary equipment, food, and supplies as you gradually ascend to Miriakamba Hut at 2,470 metres. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, wildlife, and scenic mountain views before settling into your bunk bed for the night. On a clear day, you may also enjoy views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Miriakamba Hut(2500m) to Saddle Hut (3500m)

After breakfast, begin the steep ascent from Miriakamba Hut (2,470 m) to Saddle Hut (3,500 m). Trek through montane forest and the heather zone, enjoying changing landscapes and spectacular views of Mount Meru. Stop along the way for lunch and a short rest before continuing to Saddle Hut. Upon arrival, relax and acclimatize, or take an optional hike to Little Meru for breathtaking views and sunset photography. After dinner, rest and prepare for the midnight summit attempt to Socialist Peak at 4,562 m.

Saddle Huts to Socialist Peak, to Miriakamba Hut (4562 m)

Hiking time: 10–12 hours

Begin your summit ascent around 1:00–2:00 AM, climbing steeply toward Rhino Point (3,850 m) before continuing along the narrow ridge toward Socialist Peak (4,562 m). Reach the summit around sunrise and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, including spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. After celebrating and taking photos at the summit, descend back to Saddle Hut for a well-earned rest.

Note: In icy or strong-wind conditions, crossing the ridge between Rhino Point and the summit may be unsafe. Your guide will assess the conditions and make the final decision on whether it is safe to continue.

Miriakamba Huts to Momela Gate

Hiking time: 2–5 hours

After breakfast, depart Miriakamba Hut at around 8:00 AM and descend toward Momella Gate. You may choose between a shorter or longer route. The longer trail offers excellent opportunities to spot wildlife and visit the impressive Ash Cone. Upon reaching the gate, say farewell and tip your guide, porters, cook, and armed ranger. Your vehicle will then be waiting to transfer you back to Arusha.
