Day 3
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Wake early for a hearty breakfast to fuel your gorilla trek at Bwindi. Before 8:00 am, report to the ranger station to register and hear a talk from a ranger. The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing through the undergrowth to track the gorillas. (Please note this trek can take from 30 minutes to 5-6 hours) depending on the location and movement of the gorilla family. The terrain can be steep and muddy, so a reasonable level of fitness and sturdy walking shoes are recommended. Once you locate the gorillas, you will have approximately one hour to observe them, photograph them, and watch their fascinating social behavior.
After the encounter, trek back through the forest to the park headquarters and return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. This cultural experience will give you a chance to see how the Batwa have lived for millennia in Bwindi.
