Day 1

Machame Gate (1800 m) to Machame Camp (2835 m)

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at around 8:00 am and driven to Machame Gate. Along the way, enjoy views of the lush coffee and banana plantations cultivated by the Chagga people, located within the cultivation zone, the first of Kilimanjaro’s five vegetation zones.

Upon arrival at Machame Gate, our team will complete all necessary registration and pre-trek formalities. Once everything is ready, you will begin your Kilimanjaro adventure. Today’s trek takes you through the beautiful tropical rainforest toward Machame Camp at approximately 2,835 metres. Keep an eye out for the blue monkeys that can often be spotted in the trees along the trail. You will enjoy a picnic lunch during the hike before continuing to Machame Camp, where you will spend your first night on the mountain.

Day 2

Start your day early with breakfast and prepare for another exciting day on Mount Kilimanjaro. The trek begins at around 8:00 am, taking you steadily upward through the upper rainforest before entering the beautiful moorland zone.

As you continue climbing, the vegetation becomes more open and the landscape begins to change dramatically. After a short break and a light lunch or snacks, you will proceed along a rocky ridge toward the Shira Plateau. From here, you can enjoy impressive views of the surrounding landscape and, weather permitting, catch sight of the Western Breach and its spectacular glaciers. You will then continue to Shira Campsite, located at approximately 3,750 metres, where you will spend the night.

Day 3

Shira Cave Camp (3750 m) to Baranco Camp (3900 m)

Today is an important acclimatization day as you will climb to a higher altitude before descending to a lower elevation for your overnight stay. After breakfast, you will leave Shira Camp and trek through the alpine desert landscape toward Lava Tower at approximately 4,600 metres.

After reaching Lava Tower, you will begin the descent toward Barranco Camp, situated at around 3,900 metres. The descent takes approximately three hours and offers spectacular views of the Western Breach and the impressive Barranco Wall, with plenty of opportunities to stop for photos along the way. Your campsite is located in a scenic valley beneath the Barranco Wall, where you can relax and enjoy a beautiful mountain sunset before dinner and an overnight stay in your tent.

Day 4

Barranco Camp (3900 m) to Barafu Camp (4640 m)

Today’s trek begins at Barranco Camp, surrounded by the unique giant groundsels that characterize this part of Mount Kilimanjaro. After breakfast, you will tackle the impressive Barranco Wall, a challenging but non-technical climb that leads toward the southern slopes of Kibo.

Once you reach the top of the wall, the trail continues through a scenic alpine landscape toward Karanga Camp at approximately 4,035 metres. Here, you will stop for lunch and take some time to rest while the mountain crew collects water for the remaining journey. From Karanga, you will continue across the alpine desert toward Barafu Camp, the main base camp for the summit, situated at around 4,640 metres. Upon arrival, you will have dinner and rest in preparation for the summit attempt.

Day 5

Barafu to Uhuru Peak (5895m) to Millennium Camp (3950 m)

Your summit day begins around midnight with a light breakfast and tea before starting the challenging ascent to Uhuru Peak. The climb takes approximately 4–5 hours, with the trail leading to Stella Point at 5,756 metres, where you can witness the spectacular sunrise. From Stella Point, continue for about one hour to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement, take photos and enjoy the breathtaking views before beginning the descent to Barafu Camp for lunch and a short rest. In the early afternoon, continue down to Millennium Camp at 3,950 metres. Enjoy dinner and a well-earned rest after your successful summit.

Day 6

Millennium Camp (3950m) to Mweka Gate (1630m)

After breakfast, you will begin your final descent from Millennium Camp toward Mweka Gate. The trek takes approximately 2–3 hours as you make your way down through the forest. Upon reaching Mweka Gate, you will complete the necessary check-out procedures and collect your Kilimanjaro summit certificates. After saying goodbye to your mountain crew, a private vehicle will transfer you back to your hotel in Arusha, where you can enjoy a relaxing shower and some well-deserved rest. It’s time to celebrate your successful Kilimanjaro adventure!
