Day 1

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by your driver-guide and transferred to the lush foothills of the Aberdares ranges. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at the Aberdares Country Club, which is an elegant baronial style country home set in sprawling, superbly landscaped gardens. Later you’ll transfer to Aberdares National Park via the Ark gate. The first opportunity for wildlife viewing come in this unique setting. The Ark was built to resemble the Biblical Ark. You’ll have the opportunity to view animals as they come to drink from a natural waterhole. You may see elephant, rhino, bongo (rare nocturnal antelopes with black on tan stripes), and other species.

Day 2

Aberdares - Samburu National Reserve

In the morning you’ll drive further north to Samburu Game Reserve, which is within the land of the Samburu people, who are close relatives of the Maasai. It harbors a number of wildlife species found only north of the equator and offers unique vistas of rounded and rugged hills and undulating plains. The mix of wood and grassland with riverine forest and swamp is home to a wide variety of animals and birdlife. Lunch will be served at the camp. Later in the afternoon you’ll go on a game drive until sunset.

After breakfast and check-out, you’ll drive down to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru a protected game sanctuary for the endangered black and white rhinos, along with other game such as leopards and lions. After a late lunch at the camp, you’ll go on an afternoon game drive until sunset.

Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara National Reserve

Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara National Reserve

After an early morning game drive, you’ll eat breakfast and then depart for Masai Mara Game Reserve, which means “spotted plains” in one of the local languages. This is home to one of the greatest concentrations of large mammals and is widely recognized as Africa’s ultimate wildlife reserve. The park is famous for its annual migration of wildebeest. You’ll enjoy a game drive en route to the lodge, where you’ll check-in in time for lunch. Later in the evening you’ll enjoy a game drive taking in the breathtaking scenery, never-ending plains, and the most abundant variety of wildlife anywhere in the world. The landscape is made up of rolling savannahs dotted with patchy shrubs and bush thickets.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Masai Mara National Reserve

During your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to explore this great reserve in depth. You may see elephant, giraffe, lion prides, and thousands of impalas, topi, grants, and Thomson's gazelle. Over 450 bird species have been recorded here (including 57 birds of prey). The Mara is the scene of an annual migration of millions of wildebeest coming up from the Serengeti plains in search of water and grasses. You’ll get a chance to visit a Maasai tribal village and enjoy entertainment by Maasai dancers. While in the Mara, you will have the option to float above the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem on board a hot air balloon followed by a gourmet champagne breakfast (cost not included).
