Maun - Okavango Delta (Mokoro Excursions)

Maun - Okavango Delta (Mokoro Excursions)

We will pick you up from your lodge in the morning and head for the southern tip of the Okavango Delta to meet experienced mokoro polers(guides).

Shortly before your mokoro ride you will enjoy an early morning breakfast of coffee/tea, juice, cereals, rusks, fruits, etc.

Thereafter, you will spend the next few hours gliding silently in a mokoro along the Okavango Delta’s papyrus–fringed waterways to one of its many islands where you are going to set up camp for one (1) night. On your way expect to be rewarded with splendid sightings of a variety of bird life among the more than 400 species that occur in this watery wonderland.

Once on this island you will set off on foot on your first guided safari walk within the Okavango Delta. Expect to encounter a fantastic variety of large game during these safari walks such as elephants, hippos, giraffes, zebras, etc.

Arrive back from your safari walk shortly before dark to a warm bucket shower and a hearty campfire cooked dinner.

Departure

You will rise up very early today to greet the fresh African morning with coffee and a light breakfast. After breakfast you will head out for your last morning safari walk in the Okavango Delta. As you explore the Okavango on foot you will once again be searching for game as the Okavango is world famous for its rich biodiversity.

You will return to camp at the end of your safari walk to enjoy a light lunch. After this lunch, you will wrap up your mokoro safari in the Okavango Delta. You will be given time to collect your belongings and pack them up in the mekoros in preparation for the return journey to Maun. Once you are ready, you will be poled back to the mokoro station for a pick up by your safari guide to make the journey back to Maun.

Our safari ends upon arrival in Maun. You will be dropped off at Maun Airport for your onward travel or to your lodge where you will relax and rest. This will give you enough time to relax and prepare for the next leg of your journey back home.
