Day 2
Explore Khwai Concession
Explore Khwai Concession
Wake up just before daybreak for breakfast and set off at dawn to discover what promise Khwai holds for the new day.
Khwai boasts an excellent population of African elephants, both solitary bulls and breeding herds. The swampy areas are home to red lechwe. Other resident species include the giraffe, zebra, tsessebe, kudu, impala, etc. Khwai is one of Botswana’s birding meccas. As such the raptors and waterbirds are particularly abundant and make for some great photography.
Mokoro Excursion
In the afternoon you will go for a mokoro excursion along the Khwai River (part of the Okavango Delta system). As the mokoro cuts through the water, you will paddle past an array of aquatic birdlife as well as the smaller plains game drinking at the river’s edge while sitting mere centimetres above the smooth clear water.

Khwai Concession - Savuti
You will leave camp after breakfast to travel north-eastwards to Savuti for a one (1) night stay.
As a remote corner of Chobe National Park, Savuti has a reputation for raw, dramatic game viewing thanks to its open landscapes, abundant wildlife and a full cast of predators, especially its resident lion and spotted hyena populations.
Birding in Savuti is an attraction by itself. The kori bustards may be seen preying on snakes and rodents found amongst the grass. Korhans may be heard giving out their mating cries while they flip themselves into the air simply to attract attention from a potential mate. Ground hornbills may be seen meandering through the grasslands while the ever-present raptors may be seen soaring over the Savuti skies.
Spend your days searching for Savuti’s resident wildlife as you survey the wide–open grasslands and captivating scenery of the Savuti.

Chobe is one of the best places to see and photograph Roan and Sable Antelopes. In the mid to late-afternoon, herd after herd of elephants come down to the Chobe River’s banks and each takes its turn to drink the precious water or just swim in the cool river. Also, the massive herds of African Buffalo that inhabit Chobe are constantly flanked by the ever–hungry lions of the Chobe.
