Day 2

On Safari in Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your guide will drive you to Tarangire National Park — a journey of around three to four hours. Tarangire is at its best during the long dry season from June to October, when large herds of elephant congregate along the riverbanks alongside zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, buffalo and impala, drawing lions and hyenas in search of easy hunting. Leopards roam throughout the park while cheetahs favour the open plains to the south. Ancient baobab trees punctuate the landscape, and the park's prolific birdlife adds yet another dimension to this remarkable wilderness. Optional accommodation upgrade at an extra cost.

On Safari in Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you'll be driven to Lake Manyara National Park, set beneath the dramatic cliffs of the Manyara Escarpment on the edge of the Rift Valley. The lake's alkaline waters attract flocks of pink flamingos and resident hippo pods, while the surrounding forest is home to large herds of elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra alongside a thriving primate population. Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, and leopards and hyenas may also make an appearance. As the sun begins to set, you'll head to your lodge in Karatu for dinner. After breakfast, leave Ngorongoro behind and drive to the legendary Serengeti National Park, where you'll spend the next two nights. Famous as the stage for the Great Migration — when over 2.5 million wildebeest journey between the Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara — the park offers some of the finest wildlife viewing in Africa, with herds of zebra and wildebeest stretching to the horizon during peak season.
