6-Day Mt Kilimanjaro Machame Route down Mweka Route

Arusha Machame

After breakfast at 7:30 am, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and start driving to Machame gate where the choir of the Roof of Africa starts through the tropical rain forest. It will take you about 5 hours, walk pole pole. Lunch will be served en route. You'll be arriving in the evening for dinner and your overnight stay at Machame Campsite (3000m).

Machame Shira

After breakfast at 7:30 am, we will start our hike to Shira Hut. The trek takes approximately 4.5 hours pole pole via the rainforest, through the valley and steep rocky ridge, ending westward at the river gorge. Lunch will be served en route. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Shira Campsite (3,800m). We hope that you will find today enjoyable.

Shira-Barranco

After breakfast at 7:30 am, we'll leave Shira and start hiking toward Barranco Camp. It is an average hiking time of 6 hours via Lava Tower. We'll pass the second junction, which brings us to Arrow Glacier with an altitude of 4,876m. This is a very important exercise for acclimatization. A hot lunch is served here. Afterwards, we will descend to Barranco Campsite for dinner and your overnight stay (3,940m).

Barranco-Barafu

After breakfast, we will hike to Barafu via Karanga Valley and join the junction which connects with the Mweka trail. A hot lunch is served in Karanga. Afterwards, proceed to Barafu for dinner and your overnight stay. The walk takes approximately 8 hours (4,600m). We hope that you will enjoy this adventure.

Barafu - Stella via Uhuru Peak - Mweka

We will wake up at around 11:30 am for a pre-breakfast tea, biscuits and popcorn. At 12:00 am, we will start to attempt Uhuru Peak via Stella Point (5,745m) on our way to the summit, Uhuru peak (5,896 m). It takes about 7 hours. After sunrise and the beautiful photo opportunities, we will descend to Barafu for breakfast and a hot lunch. Afterwards, we will proceed further down for about 4 hours (3,100m) to the Mweka Campsite for dinner and your overnight stay.

Mweka-Arusha

After breakfast at 7:30 am, start going down through the tropical rain forest to Mweka gate where you will collect your certificate for achievement, a good job stepping the Roof of Africa. It's a great experience. Afterwards, catch your transportation to Arusha town for an overdue hot shower with more celebration.
