Day 1

Mombasa - Tsavo East National Park

Mombasa - Tsavo East National Park

Our driver will comfortably pick you up from your hotel at 6:30am in the early morning. We then start off together to Tsavo East National Park, where we arrive in time for a spectacular morning game drive with chances to spot Elephants, Lions, Buffaloes, Hippos, Giraffes, Gazelles, Waterbucks, Leopards, Zebras and an abundance of bird species. Game spotting in Tsavo East is usually fast and easy. After the morning game drive, we check in at our accommodation for lunch. We have time to relax and dip into the inviting swimming pool, then head for an exciting game viewing trip in the late afternoon.

There are many fascinating aspects to observe in the open areas of Tsavo East, such as the Yatta Plateau, one of the world’s longest lava flows. An additional attraction is the Athi River flanked by stately Doum palms which, near the Manyani gate, forms the Lugard Falls, a long stretch of rippling white water cataracts and a favorite haunt for sunbathing Crocodiles.

Tsavo East National Park

Tsavo East National Park

After a good night’s sleep, we wake up early for breakfast and a good-morning-game drive. This full day will be spent in the marvelous Tsavo East National Park, exploring the park’s fascinating wildlife during morning and afternoon game drives. We spot Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Waterbucks, Kudus, Grenuks, Zebras and many more species. Tsavo East is particularly famous for its large herds of “Red Elephants”. The local Elephants use the park’s reddish soil to protect their sensitive skin, making themselves glow red as they do so. There are also about 500 species of birds found in Tsavo East, including the Ostrich, and many migratory birds like Kestrels and Buzzards.
