Etosha National Park
Etosha National Park
After an early breakfast this morning we will meet our guide and hit the road. Today we are heading to eastern Etosha and on arrival at the park gate mid afternoon we can enjoy our first taste of the park.
Etosha National Park is one of Southern Africa’s premier game parks and wildlife enthusiasts paradise.
The park itself covers 22,270 kms², and gets its name from the salt pan that makes up approximately 23% of the park. Once a massive lake, the Etosha Pan is now mostly dry, with the exception of good rainfall years when the pan fills up enough to become a breeding ground for flamingos that migrate between Walvis Bay and Sua Pan in Botswana.
We exit the park just before sunset and check into our accommodation on the private Onguma Reserve, just outside Etosha.

Swakopmund
Swakopmund
We depart early, as we head southwest through to the Skeleton Coast. This drive takes us through the communal area of Damaraland, where we meet the local tribes, including the Herero, Himba, and Damara people. This is a fantastic chance to interact with the locals, learn a little about life in rural Namibia, and buy souvenirs directly from the makers. On arrival on the Skeleton Coast, we stop at the Zeila Shipwreck, the latest victim on the rough Benguela current, wrecking back in 2007. We then continue to Swakopmund, where we settle into our accommodation, located in the center of Swakopmund, before taking a stroll through town or along the jetty.

Namib Desert
Enjoy a lie-in and a leisurely breakfast before exploring Swakopmund on foot, or alternatively, get up early and head out on an optional activity (sandboarding, quad biking, boat cruise, or a living desert tour, amongst others). Either way, we depart Swakopmund by midday, making our way south, first to Walvis Bay, where we can visit the lagoon, a Ramsar-listed wetland site, and a famous breeding ground for both the greater and lesser flamingo. From here, we head southeast, crossing the gravel plains of the Namib Desert before passing the Gaub and Kuiseb Passes and stopping at the Tropic of Capricorn and then at Solitaire. We aim to arrive in the late afternoon at our camp to enjoy a stunning Namib Desert sunset before heading to dinner.

Day 6
Namib Desert
Namib Desert
We spend the day exploring the Namib Desert, the world's oldest desert and part of Africa's largest conservation areas. Departing before sunrise, we travel through the national park gate, entering the Namib Naukluft National Park, down to the heart of the sand dunes. As we travel along the Tsauchab River, we can stop and enjoy countless photographic opportunities as the sun rises and the dunes change colour. The low-lying sun provides breathtaking light on the dunes, and the addition of an oryx, springbok, or ostrich brings the desert to life. Spend the morning exploring the dunes, wandering through Deadvlei and Sossusvlei, and for the energetic climbing Big Daddy, the highest dune in the area. Returning to camp mid-afternoon for a much-deserved lunch and some respite from the midday sun, you can have a siesta before enjoying an afternoon nature drive or guided walk.

Windhoek
Today marks our final day in the Namib Desert and we can choose to either have a leisurely morning with a lie in and late breakfast, or instead choose to start the day early with an optional hot air balloon flight or return to Dead Vlei for a final visit.
We hit the road no later than 11h00, making our way back to Windhoek and arriving late afternoon where we say goodbye to our guide and settle in for our last night in Namibia. Dinner tonight is at own expense.
