Windhoek to Harnas Wildlife Foundation - 304km (189miles) +/-3H10min
We will head to the Harnas Wildlife Foundation today, which is a charitable organization and one of the few orphanages and wildlife sanctuaries for wild animals in Southern Africa. A sizable number of animals including lions, leopards, cheetahs, endangered African wild dogs, baboons and tortoises reside on this 10 000-hectare (24 700 acres) farm. The farm has been transformed into a wildlife protection haven.
The owners of this beautiful reserve have dedicated their lives to establishing the most adequate and secure home possible for abandoned or orphaned wild animals. They have succeeded in creating Noah's Ark in the African savannah.
We aim to arrive at around noon, just in time for a delicious lunch. Your guide will familiarize you with the area, after which you will have some time for some rest and a chance to further explore the area before your afternoon game drive.

Ghanzi to Maun/Okavango Delta - 285km (177miles) +/-3H45min
We will stock up on some supplies and snacks in the small town of Ghanzi. We aim to arrive in the town of Maun around noon. This place is famous for being the gateway to the mighty Okavango Delta.
Maun’s name means The Place of Short Reeds and stems from the Bayei for “short reeds”. With two major river systems flowing here: the Boronyane from the Okavango Delta to the northeast and the Thamalakane, from the northwest, there are distinctly Delta qualities in Maun with mini floodplains and beautiful ancient riverine forests. Maun is an oasis in this part of the Kalahari.

Maun/Okavango Delta
Maun/Okavango Delta
Today we travel in a more appropriate fashion to truly explore the delta; first by motorboat and then by the traditional Mokoro (dugout canoe), deeper into the Okavango Delta. You are booked for a full day Mokoro tour on the majestic Okavango Delta.
These amazing traditional canoes (mokoros) are perfectly designed to maneuver through the narrow waterways of the delta and give us a chance to go further into the delta allowing better game viewing in this area.
Mokoros carry three people, two seated passengers and one driver. The driver stands in the rear of the canoe, (a real feat of balance), and uses a long wooden pole to propel and steer the Mokoro through the twisting channels. You will not be back at the camp until late in the afternoon and dinner will be at a local restaurant.
We enjoy our last sunset here before making our way to Nata the following day.

Maun/Okavango Delta to Nata, Botswana - 310km (193miles) +/-3H15min
We are back on the road again as we head to Nata on the bounds of the Magkadikgadi Salt Pans just to the east of Maun.
The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park and the Nxai Pan National Park are situated on the western border of the large Makgadikgadi salt pans, southeast of the Okavango Delta, Botswana. The Makgadikgadi Pans are one of the biggest salt pans worldwide. They are formed by two large and thousands of small pans with an area of more than 8400 km². The complete area of pan systems covers an area of more than 16000 km². The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is situated south of the Nxai Pan National Park, and forms with its huge salt pans an impressive surreal landscape.
The name Makgadikgadi means 'vast, lifeless land'. For those who prefer solitude and silence this is paradise, as even during the high season people are scarce here.
You are booked for a Makgadikgadi Pan Drive and sundowner drink this afternoon, followed by another delicious dinner.

Nata to Kasane, Botswana - 316km (196miles) +/-3H25min
We make our way to the gateway to the Chobe National Park today; Kasane is an important point of debarkation for the nearby Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Livingstone in Zambia, and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip. Quite impressive!
Spread out along the banks of the Chobe River, Kasane presents a huge collection of hotels, guest houses and campsites that accommodate all the visitors to the national park. Kasane is much smaller than its operative sister Maun but offers much more in the way of a tourism destination in its own right. The mighty Chobe River itself is a place of great natural beauty and offers exiting tiger fishing. The town can see a few herds of elephant wander right through as there are no fences with the park’s boundaries.
Outer lying regions such as the Kasane Forest Reserve are often missed but are thick with game and only strengthen wildlife numbers right around this area.
