The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, covering 3,900 square km, lies at the heart of Botswana’s dry savannah. These vast salt pans are the remnants of the once-mighty Lake Makgadikgadi. In their arid state, they resemble stark, white deserts, where the only vegetation is a delicate layer of blue-green algae. During the wet season, however, the pans come alive, attracting migrating wildlife, including wildebeest, one of Africa’s largest zebra populations, some of the region’s largest elephants, and the predators that follow them.

Upon arrival at Maun Airport (MUB), you will be met and transferred to Planet Baobab Lodge [200km], located within the Makgadikgadi Pans. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to visit nearby local villages in the afternoon.
