Dar Es Salaam - Nyerere National Park

You’ll be picked up in the morning from your hotel ferry terminal and begin a scenic four- to five-hour drive to Nyerere National Park (formerly known as Selous Game Reserve).

Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious hot lunch at the camp, followed by some time to relax and unwind. At around 4:00 PM, embark on a memorable 2.5-hour boat safari along the Rufiji River. As you cruise through the beautiful waterways, keep an eye out for a variety of bird species, large crocodiles basking along the riverbanks, and pods of hippos emerging from the water.

As the sun begins to set, enjoy the peaceful beauty of the river before returning to camp for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay at Mtemere Safari Lodge.

Nyerere National Park

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you’ll set out on a full-day game drive with packed lunch boxes in hand. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot chosen by your guide, then continue exploring the vast landscapes of Nyerere National Park, where you may encounter lions, elephants, buffalos, hippos, giraffes, rhinos, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, impalas, wildebeests, and a diverse array of bird species. In the late afternoon, you’ll return to your accommodations for an evening of relaxation, followed by dinner and your overnight stay.

Maasai Village - Dar Es Salaam

After a leisurely breakfast at Mtemre Safari Lodge, you will visit a Maasai village for approximately two hours, offering a wonderful opportunity to experience the local culture and traditions. Afterward, you’ll begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam with a packed lunch in hand. Along the way, you will stop for a scenic picnic lunch before continuing to Dar es Salaam city.

Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be dropped off at your hotel or another agreed location within the city. Depending on your travel arrangements and ferry schedule, you may instead be dropped off at the ferry terminal for your journey to Zanzibar. An additional overnight stay in Dar es Salaam can be arranged upon request.
