We spend this day exploring the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives where we will have the opportunity to spot the Big Five (lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo). We will have the option to go out with picnic lunch boxes to spend the entire day in the park.
We will also have the option to visit a local Maasai village (at an extra cost) or a balloon ride at only $450 per person. The Masai Mara is one of the best-known and most popular reserves in Africa. Here, the wildebeest migration can be seen with thousands of animals, as well as hundreds of resident animals. The plains are full of wildebeest, zebra, impala, topi, giraffe, and Thomson's gazelle. Also seen are leopard, lion, hyena, cheetah, jackal and bat-eared fox. Black rhinos are a little shy and hard to spot but are often seen at a distance. Every July, August and September, the wildebeest travel northwards from Tanzania's Serengeti plains to the Masai Mara. The Mara River is the final obstacle.
