Day 1

Mount Kilimanjaro (Machame Gate)

You’ll meet your professional, experienced, English-speaking mountain guide at your hotel at 7:00am and drive to the Machame Gate of Mount Kilimanjaro. You’ll then begin your ascent through the stunning rainforest towards the Macheme camp (an approximately four hour, ~11km/7m journey). After a picnic lunch you’ll descend two hours back to the gate. You’ll then be transferred back to the Mc-Elly's hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2

Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park

You’ll meet your driver-guide at 9:00am for your departure to Arusha National Park.

We’ll begin with a game drive, keeping an eye out for wildlife while enjoying the spectacular views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, waterfalls, lakes, swamps, and steep cliffs. The Momella Lakes in the southeastern area of the park is surrounded by beautiful woodlands. Arusha is home to many varieties of smaller game as well as giraffe, elephant, black and white colobus monkey, water buffalo, bushbuck, and over 400 species of birdlife.

After lunch, an armed ranger will be waiting to accompany you on a three-hour walking safari, which will give you the chance to experience wildlife up-close. Later in the evening we’ll drive back to the hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 3

Kikuletwa Hot Springs

Kikuletwa Hot Springs

Your driver-guide will pick you up at the hotel at 8:00am and then drive you two hours to Rundugai near Boma Ng’ombe for your visit to the hot springs.

This scenic drive takes you off the beaten path and offers a glimpse into local life, including seeing some bustling markets and farms.

Upon arrival at the hot springs, you’ll spend a few hours soaking in the pleasantly warm waters, as well as swinging on the rope swing (if you care for a little adrenaline) and relaxing in the sun-dappled shade of the trees.

After you’ve had your fill of the hot spring, we’ll take you back to the hotel for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4

Tarangire National Park

Your driver-guide will pick you up at 8:30am and drive you to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive. You’ll eat a picnic lunch at around midday.

Tarangire National Park covers 2,600 square kilometers. During the dry season, the concentration of animals here rivals that of the much better-known Serengeti. There may be upwards of 30,000 zebras, 25,000 wildebeests, 5,000 buffaloes, 3,000 elephants, 2,500 Maasai giraffes, and over 1,000 fringe-eared oryx’s (gemsbok). Predators living here include lions, cheetah, and leopards. Famous bird species include green wood hoopoes, fisher lovebirds, white bellied go-away birds, and giant kingfishers.

After sunset you’ll drive to the campsite for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 5

At 5:30am you’ll take your breakfast box and proceed for a sunrise game drive until 8:00am. You’ll then return to the camp for a full breakfast.

After breakfast, you’ll go on a game drive until the late afternoon. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the campsite.

Day 6

Lake Natron

At 5:30am you’ll take your breakfast box and go on a game drive until 8:00am, at which point you’ll drive back to the camp to pick up your luggage and lunch boxes.

You’ll then go on a game drive en route to Lake Natron. We’ll follow the Rift Valley Escarpment northwards, driving through typical Maasai land and the Oldonyo Lengai. The holy mountain of the Maasai will appear in the distance before you reach the small village of Engaresero. Here you’ll enjoy a guided bush walk to Lake Natron, whose shores shimmer in pink thanks to the thousands of flamingos.

In the evening you’ll visit the thundering Munge waterfall for a swim. You’ll also look at the Engaresero footprints. This group of roughly 400 footprints was made sometime between 5,000 and 19,000 years ago.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 7

Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, you’ll continue your journey further north while the vehicle slowly climbs along several serpentine turns. You’ll enjoy some final views of Lake Natron before leaving the Rift Valley behind. We’ll enter the Serengeti at midday at Kleins Gate and enjoy a game drive on the way to the Seronera center of the park.

On the way you will see variety of different animals, including leopards, lions, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and birds.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the campsite.

At 5:45am you’ll pick-up your breakfast box and proceed on a sunrise game drive in the Serengeti. You’ll return to the camp in the afternoon for a hot lunch.

After lunch you’ll go on a game drive on the vast Serengeti plains, which is home to a huge variety of animals and birds. Be sure to search among the trees and kopjes for the elusive leopards and cheetah.

Later you’ll return to the campsite for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 9

Lake Ndutu

At 5:45am you’ll pick up your breakfast box and go on a game drive in the Lake Ndutu area. Ndutu is between the southeast of the Serengeti and the northwest of the Ngorongoro Crater. This is where the great migration (thousands of wildebeest and zebras) will be from January to late April.

This short grassland area has highly nutritious grass due to the minerals in the soil. It is where the great migration calves are born in February and is one of the very few places in the parks where off-road game driving is permitted. It is the best place to see hunting cats (lions and cheetahs). Other animals found here include hyenas, warthogs, elephants, and giraffes (among others).

In the afternoon you’ll drive back to the camp to pick up your lunch boxes and then proceed on a game drive to the Ngorongoro crater rim.

Day 10

At 6:00am you’ll have breakfast and then drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll descend over 600m onto the crater floor for a six-hour game drive.

The Ngorongoro Crater supports a huge array of animals, including wildebeest herds, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw of this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot.

We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. Many hippos, flamingos, and other water birds can usually be seen here. Lunch will be a picnic. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the campsite.

We’ll walk 17km along the rim of the crater. Along the way we’ll see many birds and a variety of wild animals such as giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, bush-backs, and elephants. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the campsite.

After breakfast, you’ll walk about half a kilometer to be picked up for your drive to Lake Eyasi. You’ll eat lunch at the campsite and then pay a visit to the local Barbeig and Datooga people to experience their lifestyle and culture. The Datooga, known as the Mang'ati in Swahili, are a pastoralist Nilotic people. You’ll also visit a traditional healer.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 14

At 5:00am you’ll have a cup of coffee or tea and go out with a local Hadzabe guide for a walk around the Lake Eyasi bush. You’ll see traditional beekeeping sites, rock caves, a traditional healer, traditional dancing, and a variety of other bushmen activities.

In the afternoon you’ll return to the camp for a hot lunch and then drive to your next campsite.

At 8:00pm you’ll go on a nighttime game drive in Lake Manyara National Park until midnight. A whole new world of nocturnal animals awaits you! There is an abundance of elusive animals that are rarely seen during the day. Keep your eyes open, and hopefully you will be lucky enough to spot shy genets, lithe civet cats, prickly porcupines, hippos happily foraging under a leafy tree on the roadside, leopards, and tree climbing lions.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 15

Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you’ll go on a full-day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, which is home to giant fig trees, acacia woodlands, mahogany trees, and grassy flood plains. The contrasts of this area are simply breathtaking. You’ll see open plains, a huge escarpment, a soda lake, dense woodlands, and distant volcanic peaks.

Animals such as elephants, hippos, impalas, giraffe, warthog, wildebeest, blue monkeys, and buffaloes can be seen here. The park is also home to leopards and the famous tree-climbing lions.

Lake Manyara National Park provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s bird life with over 400 species having been recorded within the park's boundaries. Highlights include pink-hued flamingoes, herons, storks, and pelicans.

In the late evening you’ll drive to Kilimanjaro Airport via Arusha.
