Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have an early breakfast, then depart for Bwindi National Park at 7.00 am. You will drive southwards for at least 8 hours before arriving at your accommodation which is situated just outside of the park on the southern side. The most direct route from Kampala follows a surfaced road to Kabale via Mbarara and Ntungamo. A slow dirt road then winds through the highlands to Ruhija gorilla region via Rubanda. The main trailhead at Ruhija is about 500 km from Kampala and can be reached by road from several directions. Along the way, you will encounter many things, including the equator, vast plantations, rolling hills and several bustling towns with hospitable people going about their daily lives.

You will have lunch en-route in Mbarara town at either Igongo Cultural Hotel or Agip Motel. Relax in the evening whilst enjoying the magnificent vistas of the beautiful Ruhija landscape. Enjoy your dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest and Night Stay at L Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast and briefing by the UWA ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your safari highlight. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular! The area offers dramatically steep forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails offering easy accessibility for the visitors.
Trekking time typically depends on the nature of terrain and daily movements of these giant apes. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be given at least one hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle, giant primates is an awesome and exciting experience to be long savored.
After the trekking, transfer to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi, located amidst the terraced hills of Kabale. You may take a leisurely canoe tour to explore some lush islands that make up this lake.

Depart Lake Bunyonyi back to Kampala

Have an early morning breakfast overlooking the mystical Bunyonyi, thereafter drive back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator monument and lunch in Mbarara. Drive back through to Kampala/Entebbe where your guide will drop you off at the airport for your onward flight.
