You will be picked up from the hotel by our professional driver/guide, then your journey to Mikumi starts. You will have a picnic lunch en-route. The drive, through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania, will take about 7 hours. The Mikumi flood plain is the main feature of the park, along with the bordering mountain ranges. Animals commonly found here include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, hippo and elephant. The Mikumi elephants are mainly grazers and do not cause damage. Sleeping inside the park will give you an opportunity to view animals all the time. Dinner and overnight will be at Mikumi Park Cottage inside the park.

Mikumi National Park then Udzungwa / Sanje Waterfalls
At 6.00 am, before breakfast, go on a game drive in the park. Morning game viewing is the best time because most of the killings take place. Return to the camp at 8:40 am for breakfast. Afterward, you will start a safari of 40 minutes to Udzungwa at Sanje Waterfalls, the highest in Tanzania, where you can swim in the natural pool. Upon arrival, you will meet our guide/ranger who will accompany you on the hiking tour.
Udzungwa Mountains National Park is well known for its excellent hiking, trekking, mountain climbing, and forest walks. The most popular hiking tour is up to the Sanje Waterfalls, looking for monkeys, swimming in plunge pools, and enjoying the spectacular view while enjoying a picnic lunch. After your hiking tour, you will descend the mountains and proceed to your accommodation at Camp Bastian in Mikumi.

Mikumi to Selous Game Reserve + Boat trip
After breakfast at 08.30 am, we proceed to Selous Game Reserve, a drive of 7 to 8 hours. You will have a picnic lunch on the way. The journey will take you through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. On your arrival you will have a Boat safaris, which is also the best excursion for bird enthusiasts. Selous has over 350 bird species, and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment. You might also want to try your luck with the ferocious tiger fish and weighty catfish that live in the waters in abundance. Later drive back to your hotel for an overnight at Selous Safari Lodge.

Full Game drive in Selous (Nyerere NP)
The day will be spent on game viewing in the game reserve and in the evening, you will take a boat safari for 2 to 3 hours. The safari guide points out rare species of animals like wild dog, sable antelope, and black rhinoceros. You will spot the Nile crocodile and hippopotamus along the banks of the Rufiji River, along with the Cape buffalo, hartebeest and eland. A picnic lunch and drinks will be served in the wilderness before proceeding with the game drives and early afternoon drive back to your lodge for an overnight stay at Selous Safaris Lodge.

Walking tour then back to Dar at hotel, airport or ferry
After an early breakfast at the camp, go on a sunrise bushwalking hike. Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. It's an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of the natural reserve. The walks take about 2 - 3 hours. Usually, the walks leave from the camp at 6:00 - 6:30 am, after having a cup of tea and some homemade biscuits or doughnuts. After walking back to the camp for breakfast, you will proceed to Dar es Salaam as per your schedule or take a boat to Zanzibar.
