Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at the hotel and a short safari briefing, you will proceed to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive in the park. In the afternoon, your driver will set and prepare a table for a full, hot lunch (soup, bread rolls, main dish, and fruit salad) followed by a glass of wine, tea, or coffee. After lunch, continue with the game drive until the evening when you drive to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Tarangire National Park is home to herds of up to 300 elephants that scratch the dry riverbed for underground streams. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

After lunch, continue with the game drive until evening when you drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded here and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively-tusked elephants.

Ndutu Area - Serengeti South

After breakfast at the camp, a game drive in the Ndutu area will follow. We'll track the massive herds of wildebeest and zebra, witnessing the birth of new calves and trailing predators such as lion, cheetah, and hyena on the hunt. In the afternoon, your driver will set and prepare a table for a full, hot lunch (soup, bread rolls, main dish, and fruit salad) followed by a glass of wine, tea, or coffee. After lunch, we continue with a game drive and then drive back to the camp.

It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps the most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November. They then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June.

Continue with the game drive until the evening when your driver will set a sundowner picnic table with drinks and snacks before you drive back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

The wildebeest travel through a variety of parks, reserves, and protected areas and through a variety of habitats. Join us to explore the different forms of vegetation and landscapes of the Serengeti ecosystem and meet some of their most fascinating inhabitants.

Serengeti National Park is well known for its healthy stock of other resident wildlife, particularly the "Big Five" named for the 5 most prized trophies taken by hunters. The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem.

The migration is when a million wildebeest, each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfill their instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life. It is a frenzied 3-week bout of territorial conquests, mating and survival of the fittest as 40km (25 miles) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters on the annual exodus north.
