2 travelers on Start dateThe great beautiful Tarangire National
The Tarangire National Park is just a two and a half hour's drive from Arusha.
On the way there you will get a sense of the impressive vastness of Tanzania.
In addition, you will pass through several small villages where locals sell their goods in small markets or by the roadside. If you wish, the trip can be interrupted at any time for a short stop at a stall or for a tour of a market.
In the afternoon, you will drive into the Tarangire National Park, which has the highest concentration of wildlife after the Serengeti.
During the dry season, the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Whether wildebeests, zebras, lions, elephants, impalas, buffaloes, giraffes or gazelles – the Tarangire National Park is not only home to migratory herds and various predators, but also hundreds of impressive bird species.

It is also the place you are most likely to see all the Big Five – elephants, black rhinos, buffalos, lions and leopards.
Unlike other national parks, the Maasai can live side by side with the wildlife to continue their culture and rituals in the place in which they have been doing so for centuries.

Enjoying a migration of wildebeest and zebra
The Ndutu Region forms part of the northern section of Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stretches to the unfenced southern reaches of the Serengeti National Park, a meeting point between these two incredible wilderness areas. This section of the park is made up of rolling grasslands peppered with alkaline lakes that attract flocks of flamingos, as well as acacia woodlands. A big draw of the Ndutu Region is to see the full circle of the Great Migration, especially the calving which takes place in January and February. Calving season is particularly dramatic: a million wildebeest give birth to 8000 babies every day, and as these newborns take their first steps, they’re targeted by lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena.
